SOURCE: engine starts when I hand prime it,but not when I use prime bulb.

There are two screws on the carb. 1 is Lo rpm air/fuel ratio and the other is hi rpm. Try adjusting the lo rpm screw counter-clockwize a 1/2 turn at first, more if needed. After each adjustment try to start. The other thing you could check is if the float is sticking in the bottom of the carb. which shuts off gas flow if full. There is a screw on the bottom of the carb to drain that float. You can try that also! Good luck man!

SOURCE: primer bulb on weedeater won't prime

when you prime the bulb it sucks gas from the tank with the small tube, any excess gassed pumped will be fed back to the carb via the big tube leading to the tank. If you prime it and the bulb stays pushed down, then you have a clog or kink. To fix , pull the small tube out of the tank through the fill hole. Pull off the filter on the end and put the tube back in the tank. If it primes, your fuel filter was clogged. If it still wont prime check the hose going to the carb and make sure isnt clogged or kinked.(take of carb and blow in it). If that doesnt fix it take off the bulb from the carb with two screws. The bulb assembly will come off too(rectange metal thing) Take off the two black gaskets, be carefull with them. Take off hoses from carb and bulb asembly. Blow carb cleaner in all holes and over surface. Put back together.
If the carb wont prime and the bulb isnt staying depressed. then you might have a bad bulb or carb gaskets. Make sure hoses are not cracked, cloged, or pinched.

SOURCE: Echo trimmer , new carb , good spark, cleand fuel filter, new fuel, new fuel lines, cleaned spark arrestor, primed and pull , no gas getting to the plug.compression test? What pulls the fuel? Intake?

Hi Ralph, Seems like the problem is where the float and needle meet, The float, needle and seat let the gas into the bottom of the carby and as the gas rises the float rises as well pushing the needle up into the seat slowing the gas flow into the bottom of the carby.... As the motor's using the gas in the bottom of the carby the float's lowering and the needle lowers as well allowing gas into the
carby, If the needle is stuck inside the seat then NO gas will be let into the bottom of the carby so check that by pushing up and down the float to see if the needle moves up and down if not just pull the needle down with your fingers.... OH AND YOU MIGHT NEED
TO CHECK THE PART OF THE FLOAT THAT TOUCHES THE NEEDLE.... I hope you know what I mean....CHEERS..

SOURCE: Trimmer won't prime to start

Look inside the tank. Some units have a stone inside that blocks the fuel line when it is tipped a certain way. Might be what's happening here.

Priming echo BP251 liaf blower

Hi Norman:
I'd check the routing of the fuel lines.
Tank to carb (this is the line with the filter on it)
carb to bulb (suction side)
bulb to tank (return line)
If the connections appear correct but it does not pull gas, check the filter to make sure it is clean, and you can try reversing the connections on the bulb.
Hope this helps.

Why does the carb not prime with fuel?

Check the primer bulb. If it has a small hole or leak it will not generate the suction with which to suck the gas in to them prime the engine. And make sure that the top of the carb with the bulb is firmly attached to the rest of carb to prevent any base leaks by the primer.

Have huqvarna 350 it will not prime the bulb is good it check it . how can i check to see if it the carb or some other part of the fuel transfer system? when i pump i see the fuel from the carb being...

The bulb pulls fuel from the carb, if there is no fuel in the carb then it will not prime, reasons for no fuel in the carb is, blocked fuel filter in the tank, fuel hose trapped or split, internal filter in the carb, under the pump diaphram ( alloy cover on the carb held with a single screw ) blocked, you can test the primer, pull the two pipes off, the longer tube on the back of the primer should create a pressure when you press the bulb, the shorter connection should create a suction when you let go of the bulb. The suction side should be connected to the carb.

Craftman blower/ changed the fuel lines/ cleaned the filters/ still no fuel in to the primer

Clean your carb and make sure your needle and seat are also clean and the screen inside carb at inlet of fuel, also the primer has a check valve inside it that gums up, try to spray carb clean or sea foams deep creep I like it seems to loosen up the check valve and remember normally fuel line with filter goes on nipple at pump side of carb and other nipple goes to suction side of primer and other nipple goes to tank as a return line ...so as you prime it, this causes fuel to be sucked thru carb and back to tank 2StrokeJim

Didn't take the gas lines off , and I don't have a

normally the line from the tank with the filter goes to the pump nipple of the carb, then the other nipple on carb by needle/seat side goes to suction side of primer, and the other one at primer goes to gas tank. what this does it pulls fuel through the carb when you prime it, and excess goes back into tank(return line) at primer, so when you prime it you should see fuel coming out through the line that goes to tank with out filter. good luck

I had the same problem, get a rebuild kit. It sounds like the diaphram is shot. Also make sure the prime bulb doesn't have any holes or cracks, the engine won't run if it does
