SOURCE: We removed the sim holder

Hello.

Make sure you insert it back properly and not upside down:

Or use a flashlight to check what is preventing it from going back in place.

Insert SIM Card Problem Fix

The "Insert SIM Card" problem can be irritating when it keeps on popping up even when a SIM card is actually been inserted into the phone's SIM card holder. It can sometimes be remedied by cleaning both the SIM card and the holder terminals with a cotton swab immersed in alcohol; most preferably 70% alcohol solution. Sometimes the holder is not tightly holding the SIM card causing the problem. This can be solved by padding up the back of the SIM card with a small sheet paper or any appropriate material enough for the holder to hold the SIM card tightly. Another way to fix the problem is by bending in the mid-section of the SIM holder cover.

Nokia 1110, 1110i, 1200, 1028, 1209 and all other member of the family of Nokia phones with USB ports similar to the ones mentioned earlier have the tendencies to experience the "Insert SIM Card" problem not due to a dirty terminals nor a loose holder but due to dirty, soiled, or oxidized USB port terminals. The fix is just as simple as cleaning the USB port terminals but make sure to remove the phone battery prior to the cleaning. Use a paper clip, a safety pin, or a needle with bended tip to scrape off the dirt between the port terminals and dip it in alcohol to wash it out.

The cleaning can be done without the necessity of disassembling the phone but if proper tools are available, disassemble the phone to clean the inside of the system connector, the one where the USB port, the charging socket, and the headset socket are located.

People may wonder how a dirty USB port can lead to the "Insert SIM Card" issue and guess what; it is not even included in the Nokia Service Manual. The fix was discovered accidentally and proven many times that a dirty USB port is indeed the source of the problem.

How do i install sim on a kyocera c653 phone

Did you mean the Hydro-life C6530N phone? There is no C653 listed on the Kyocera USA web site. The following is copied from page 9 of the manual for the C6530N:
Insert the SIM Card

1. Insert your thumbnail or fingernail into

the slit and lift the battery cover.

2. Grasp the white pull-tab extending from

the battery pack and pull the battery out

of its compartment.

3. Use your fingernail to carefully pull out

the SIM card tray.

4. Place the SIM card into the tray, with

the gold contacts facing down and the

cut off corner on the top left. Insert the

SIM tray back into the SIM card slot and

push until it clicks into place.

Note: Make sure not to insert the SIM

tray in the opposite direction.

5. Insert the battery, contacts end first, and

gently press into place.
If the tiny type is too hard to read, you can view the manual with a PDF reader at http://www.kyoceramobile.com/hydro-life/Hydro_LIFE_User_Guide_T-Mobile_en.pdf
There is a different manual for the MetroPCS version of the phone, but the SIM card installation is the same.

Have tried following instructions but cannot get back off to insert battery - nothing budges and am reluctant to push/slide cover too hard. Is there a trick to this?

There is three tangs that hold the battery cover in place. You can push with 2 fingers on each side at the bevel area on both side of the camera len. You could also bring you phone to your local service provider to ask them to remove the cover for you.

it's usually located under the battery. the metal holder slides in one direction to release the lock that's holding the sim card. for that phone i'm not sure which direction. try both you'll know when you have it. be gentle tho it's not made to use alot of force on.

Phone doesn't recognize the SIM card

The sim card holder has a tiny slide mechanism. After inserting the sim card and pressing it against the body of the phone, place your finger over the card and slide it gently forward. The tiny plastic part that holds the card will snap it into place. Hard to explain, but it will work.
