Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Samsung LNT-4061 LCD TV purchased new in 2008. Over the last 6 months it slowly stopped working. Is it worth my time to try & fix it?

Beginning early this year (2016), after turning the TV on the picture would invert vertically on the left half of the screen followed by color distortion over much of the screen until the set 'warmed up' in 15-20 minutes - then it worked fine. Over the months the 'warm up' time increased to +30 minutes. A few months later the same vertical inversion / color distortion would start after TV had been on and working just fine for multiple hours. In recent days the picture hold fails every 10 or so minutes but it can be corrected with a slight 'love tap' to the side of the TV. The TV is now retired as I decide whether I should: 1. try self-repair, 2. send it to a pro for a look-see and repair estimate or 3. send it to the graveyard. Any thoughts?

Usually solved by replacing the DLP chip (Google it) they cost around 180. If you have a couple hundred more I'd just go buy a Samsung LCD smart tv.

Hi I deal with Samsung everyday. Can you not go back to the store where you bought it. their customer service team should be able to push a bit more clarification from Samsung. Also a lot of stores will have a policy where if the unit is away for repair for more than x amount of days/weeks the customer is entitled to a new prduct. Worth a shot!

Under menu, option make sure that you haven't selected audion only and that input select is on the first or second options,(not the third one). If you can't even see the menu, then your connections are probably bad. Hope this helps, Mark
