There is a solenoid you can see when the back door is opened, that gets sticky so that the paper doesn't start on time and then is late at the exit. You have to watch it work to see which one, you can bend the tab down and it will work for a while.

Cannon laser fax 1060 P "check paper size"

Hi Margaret
Ok,the problem normaly with this model is in the feeding of the paper. For some or other reason the paper is moving to slow threw the machine and then the machine detect it as a longer size paper.

  • Clean the rollers that pick the paper up and clean also the sepatation rubbers under neath the paper pick up rollers. This rubbers is called the separation pads.
  • To clean this rollers, remove the cartridge and you will see the feed roller at the back.
I think what happened with the move the machine might collected dust and now the rollers are slipping.

Thanks for you support

Misfeed when attempting to make a copy - Ricoh FT5535

If you are a technical person you may want to remove the tray from the machine (pull all the way out, tilt upwards, and pull.) to clean the rollers. Once the trays are removed you will see a set of three rollers for each tray. They can be removed and cleaned or cleaned directly on the machine. They may have build up dust on them preventing feed. Reinstall the trays the same way they came out but in reverse steps.

Then:

1. Pull offending tray all the way out and remove paper.
2. Unlock the side guides and make sure they move freely
3. Set about 100 sheets of NEW paper for now and adjust the side guides and the end fence. The end fence must be against the paper (touching) and the side guides must NOT be too tight agains the paper as this will prevent the tray from lifting.
4. Make sure the paper size dial is set to the paper SIZE and ORIENTATION.
5. Close tray and test.

Let us know what happens. In the worst case it could be a Magnetic clutch malfunction

I have xerox workcentre xd105f, can't make copies, paper jamed and letter P on display

to remedy the P display error remove the paper tray and take any paper from under the tray and between the rollers, clean the rollers with alcohol or an acetone solution to remove paper dust and paper debris, refit the paper tray with the paper pushed below the tabs on the tray ensuring that the correct paper size is shown, IE: ltr ltr-r etc.
power the unit off and on and you should be back in business.

If this remedies the problem please rate the solution accordingly

thanks

EPSON AcuLaser C1900 paper jam when printing black or color

I have just gained a C1900 second-hand and have set it all up and got the drivers and so forth. Am having exactly this problem, right down to the folded pages, wide top margin and 'Check Paper Size' error message. Did you ever find a solution to this? Anyone else know how to fix it?

Fax machine says Rec. Paper Jam

Check the paper, is it loaded correctly? Have you fanned the paper to break the production bond? Is the paper a good quality? Remove all of the paper and check inside for any foreign objects.(paper clips, staples) Reinstall paper. Mark the top sheet of paper with an x, press the copy button, does it even try to pull in the paper?
If yes, the pick up rollers are likely dirty, and need to be cleaned, remove the paper and clean the rollers with some isopropal alcohol, and a soft cloth. (available at a drug store) Retry
If it doesn't try at all, then turn machine off and unplug it for a few minutes,re connect, power up. Any change? if not machine has a feed problem that may require a Tech to look at.

Hope this is of some help.

to select the paper size.
The indicator of the
selected paper size lights
up.

Proper Manual cleaning

Hi Gidget,

I typically use "Chux" wipes and a shop-vac to start with. The wipes wipe up and REALLY HOLD the toner & paper particles, holds 'em tighter than a Hobo does a ham sandwich...

(I'll concede to the 'by-the-book' crowd that a specific (read EXPEN$IVE) type of vacuum cleaner is recommended by HP & most other service org's. I've used my shop-vac for 12+ years and have serviced thousands of HP LJ's, CLJ's, AiO's, MFM's, DJ's, OJ's, etc. I have never lost a single printer because I didn't use the 'right' type of vacuum...)

The Chux wipes are available from PartsNow, LLC; www.partsnow.com/.

They also carry maint kits for almost every HP printer made as well as Lexmark, Canon, Xerox, etc.

I use Cooper's Platen Cleaner (PartsNow) to clean the rollers using 2" x 2" gauze squares and nitrile gloves. Fedron works well too. HP's website mentions isopropyl alcohol and water as their recommended solvents. Use waht works best for you.

Having some 6-inch long cotton tipped applicators (wooden handled single ended Q-Tips...) helps tremendously.

In conjunction with the correct service manual, (in your case,  Combined Service Manual for HP LaserJet 4L / ML & 4P / MPHP Publication Number C2005-90988, August 1993), a thorough cleaning is very easy for almost anyone to perform.

PartsNow and several other websites have HP Svc Man's online for free, Google around.

A legacy utility from HP that I've not yet tried can print and cycle cleaning sheets to clean mainly the fuser, but also claims to clean rollers as well. HP printer specialists will recognize 'cleaning sheets' from HP's newer models, built in to the menu structure. The utility will allow you to do the same for older (LJ 4, 5, & 6) printers. Find it at:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=125&prodSeriesId=25484&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25484&objectID=bpl03846

Another Combined Svc Man is available as well that covers:

HP LaserJet 4 / 4M
(C2001A / C2021A)
HP LaserJet 4 Plus / 4M Plus
(C2037A / C2039A)
HP LaserJet 5 / 5M / 5N
(C3916A / C3917A / C3952A)

HP Publication Number C3916-90984 (March 1996).

As far as Scheduled cleaning, the cleverly formatted (LOL) table below lists HP's recommended service intervals. Over the years, I've found that adhering to the schedule has reduced unplanned downtime by almost 80%!!

DESCRIPTION / QTY / EST. LIFE (pages) / REMARKS
1.  Toner Cartridge / 1 / 6800 (note 1) / When print becomes faint, shake cartridge to distribute remaining toner.

2.  MP (Tray 1) Pickup Roller Assembly / 1 / 200,000 / Replace roller and separation pad together.

3.  PC (Tray 2) Pickup Roller / 1 / 200,000 / Look for glazing and cracks.

4.  Separation Pad / 1 / 200,000 / Look for glazing and grooves. Replace together with Pickup Rollers.

5.  Transfer Charging Roller / 1 / 200,000 / May affect print quality and/or paper jams.

6.  Fuser Assembly (115 V, 50/60 Hz) / 1 / 200,000 / May affect print quality and/or paper jams. Look for marks on rollers.

6a. Fuser Assembly (220 V, 50 Hz) / 1 / 200,000

7.  LC (Tray 3) Pickup Roller / 1 / 200,000 / Look for glazing and grooves. Replace the Separation Pad.

8.  Exhaust Fan / 1 / 25,000 hrs. (I've only had to replace one in 12 yrs...)

Note 1: The estimated Toner Cartridge life is based on A4 or letter size prints with an average of 5% toner coverage, and with the density setting at 3.

Best of luck,

Foxfur
