How to replace battery

Remove the 4 screws in the side with a Phillips precision screw driver. Very small. Pry the 2 halves apart carefully. 2 small button size batteries and probably a metal clip will fall out. The clip looks like a figure eight. Replace the batteries with 2 Energizer 357/303 batteries. Place the metal clip back with the indentions up. You will see where it goes when you get it apart. The batteries will go on top of the clip with 1 battery plus side up nearest the on switch and the other battery plus side down. When you put the 2 halves back together it should come on. Mine did. Don't over tightened the 4 small screws

Tristar vacuum model # A101N disassemble instructions

The A101N is held together by 3 #15 Torx (tm) screws. Two 2.5" long screws on each side of the lower shell (screws into the motor bulkhead on each side) and one recessed screw at the front of the shell. The front screw is a 1.5" Torx, all other screws holding bits and bobs on the shell are 1" don't have to remove them, but it's handy to know that all the screws on the outer shell are interchangeable, except the 3 that hold the shell together. In addition, there is a large metal tab that slots into the rear of the rubber gasket that is clamped between the two halves of the shell. Use pliers to pry the slotted part of the gasket (it's a squared off section of the gasket that sticks out on one end). The pliers can get the gasket off the tab, and a narrow-shaft screwdriver (phillips or robertson) can hold the rubbber flap away from the tab on each side. Once the gasket is off the metal tab, the two halves of the shell should just pop apart. When re-assembling the shell, remember to line up the motor bulkhead with the notch in the gasket around the motor housing, the shell won't close if the motor is mis-aligned. Also, start by inserting the metal tab on the lower shell into the notches on the gasket, then stretch, pull, and coax the gasket into place around the lower shell first, before replacing the upper shell, and screwing the two halves back together. I'll try to get a video or some pictures up later. WebRepOverall ratingThis site has no rating(not enough votes)

Where are the screws/tabs that hold the kenmore 25513 case together? The vacuum makes a "clicking" noise like a relay is kicking in but the motor will not turn on. I suspect siezed bearings.

The screws that hold the cover are under the spring loaded "bar" for retractng the cord. To get at the screws one has to pry the bar loose! The problem with the motor is that something fell apart within it (small bolts fell out).
I do not see any non-destructive way of taking the motor apart.

Smeg se336ss 5 some so and so has broken the outer glass door!

We removed the front glass of our oven door after a big spill between the two glass sections (by blunt force!). Since it took us 4 hours to put back together, we wanted to spread the info in case any others have the misfortune to make this mistake! Note, I wouldn't do this unless you have to, just incase you can't get your door back together again.

Assuming the back sheet of oven glass is still in position, but the front sheet is not attached -

1. Follow the manual instructions to remove the door, ensuring that both hinges are locked fully (otherwise you won't be able to get the door back on easily)

2. Once the door is removed, ensure that the plastic spacers that hold the two sheets of glass apart are in original position, resting on the inner door, at the bottom corners of the tempered glass

3. Remove the narrow metal strip at the bottom of the inner door by unscrewing the 3 screws that hold it in place. This is the metal groove that the outer pane of glass needs to rest in

4. Lay the outer sheet of glass in position in this metal strip

5. Lay the outer sheet of glass over the inner door. Slot the outer sheet into position at the top of the inner door first, ensuring it is layed flush at the top.

6. A second person needs to ease the metal strip back into place at the bottom of the inner door, so that the two sheets of glass are now held together at both top and bottom.

7. Screw the metal strip back into position with the 3 screws

8. Follow the manual instructions to replace the door. Ensure that the small grooves at the bottom of both hinges are resting in position correctly, otherwise the door will not close flushly.

Can't get the case off the beater bar assembly

Wish I had the complete model number, but you can go to and click on the parts link and enter your model number, a parts list and a picture diagram showing the breakdown will come up.
On some of the powerheads, you take out 2 screws, then there are tabs holding it together on the back and on each side, release them and the top comes off.
On some othere, the cover over the light comes off, depress te sides and back to release it, then there will be 2 screws to take out. Then using a flat blade, you will see slots from the bottom edge of the top cover, pry out from these slots and the top will come off.

Taking a Rowenta DX1900 Apart

To get the base off, you have to remove the 2 screws from the face.
the button for the reel has a screw behind it, that needs to be removed.

Take a thin piece of metal, like a spark plug gapper, and slide it in the side to push back the tabs. You have to do it on each side. Remove button and take out screw. The base will come off.

Now you need a special torx srewdriver that allows for the center of the screw to enter the screwdriver.......

Learned the hardway and didn't have the correct torx..... Good Luck

Broken power head belt

The top cover covering the light, push in at the sides to release the tabs holding it, then there will be 2 screws, remove them, then with a screw driver, on each side you will see a slot, put the screw driver in ther and pry up to release the catches. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt.
