Do you mean the password, SSID (broadcast name)? Most of the time if you open a browser on a computer connected to the network and type in it will bring you to your routers control panel. You should be able to set the wep key from there

Okay, first you will need to access your router (usually or something like that) you will be asked for a user name and password. (admin password respectively if you never set these up previously)

From there you would click on Wireless Settings and scroll down to WEP Key. Whatever is typed in Key 1 is your WEP key. Write that down. Plug in those numbers for your printer and you should be go to go.

SOURCE: Where can I find the WEP key on this router? Thanks!

If you don't have the manual, you can download it here.
Look at page 11 onwards.

1. Log on to your router:

  • type in the URL bar of your browser
  • default username and password: admin/admin

2. Go to Wireless -> Interface and you will find the WEP key there.

Just a note on security:

You should try NOT to use WEP, since it is not secure anymore.(Just google "hack WEP" and you will get over a million results...)
If your wireless cards a capable, try to use WPA2/PSK, which is the best protocol and the strongest encryption.
Tip: Use a random string of characters (like H98yh&VOrh... you get the idea). Save the Network key in a text document and copy it to a USB stick, so you don't have to enter it manually into your wireless computer.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Where do i find my wep key

Your WEP key, assuming it hasn't been changed since you got your wireless router, should be printed on a label on the router itself along with the router SSID that identifies your network when you see it in the list of available wireless networks to connect to.

If the key has been changed, then you would need to access the Admin web interface of the router and sign in to that in order to check what the current security settings are configured as.

The Admin web address is normally the same as your default gateway address and DHCP server address as shown when you open a Command prompt window and type ipconfig /all

Have a wireless modem. My laptop does not link though it identifies the modem

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Linksys router, I do not know my own wep code to

1. Step 1
Open your web browser, type " " into the address bar and hit "Enter."
2. Step 2
Use "Admin" as the username in the pop-up box and leave the password blank.
3. Step 3
Connect to the Internet and click on "Internet Setup."
4. Step 4
Select your connection type from the drop-down menu. Choose "DHCP" for cable modems or "PPPoE" for most DSL modems. If you are unsure of these options, check with your ISP.
5. Step 5
Set a service set identifier (SSID) to identify the router and change the password.
6. Step 6
Encrypt your wireless connection using a Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key. Under the "Wireless Security" option, enter a passphrase and click "Generate." This will generate a password which will need to be used by any client connecting to your router.

Once I have enabled WEP, how do I set up the

Access the setup page of the router by typing in the address bar of your browser.

Leave the password blank.

On the setup page of the router, go to Wireless. Take note of your SSID. You may also change the name of your SSID so that you can easily identify your network.

Then go to Security under Wireless.

Select 64-bit WEP. Type a passphrase then click the generate button.

Take note of the passphrase and wep key.

Then click Apply Changes.

On your wireless computer, you should be able to detect your SSID in the available networks.

It will ask you for the network key, type the wep key. On some computers, simply typing the passphrase works.

I hope this helps!

What is my wep key

Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a deprecated algorithm used to secure IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Wireless networks broadcast messages using a radio and are thus more susceptible to eavesdropping than wired networks.

Setting WEP up is done from the wireless security tab of your router configuration, this is usually accessed from your computer using the web address http:\\ by default. It consists of a pass-phrase and a key. the pass-phrase is used to generate an encryption key, this is then necessary to use any packets (Bits of data) transferred over the air.

Beginning in 2001, several serious weaknesses were identified by cryptanalysts with the result that today a WEP connection can be cracked with readily available software within minutes.[2] Within a few months the IEEE created a new 802.11i task force to counteract the problems. By 2003, the Wi-Fi Alliance announced that WEP had been superseded by Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), which was a subset of then upcoming 802.11i amendment. Finally in 2004, with the ratification of the full 802.11i standard (i.e., WPA2)

Wireless Connection Not Identified Aftre Password Was Set Up

There are a lot of reasons this could happen but I'll give you what I had to do. 1) Go back into your router and change the Wireless channel from 6 to 10. 2) make sure you have entered the correct WEP key in your network setting for the wireless adapter. The easiest way is to remove teh wireless network from your computer and let the computer find the network and prompt you for the wep key. the wep key is not the password you use to log into your router. The wep keys must be entered on all the wirelss machines in order for this to work.

What is a ssid and a wep key. I am dumb.

SSID is the wireless networks name you want to access.

WEP is a special hexadecimal key to secure your network means if you want to connect a wireless network you will have to put this key.
It will be provided by the admin
