I assume you want to stop vista from automatically connecting to wireless networks other than yours.......try this:

Open Network and Sharing Center, click Manage wireless networks, click on your "home" network & make sure that Connect automatically when this network is in range is checked. Now do the same for any other connection that is listed but uncheck the Connect automatically when this network is in range.

Go to Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center
click Manage network connections under 'Tasks'
Right-click Wireless Network Connection
Select Properties.
In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialogue box, click the
Wireless Networks tab.
Select other wireless network like "Y5ZONE", "PCCW" and click Properties
Click Connection tab
Uncheck the box "Connect when this network is in range"

Hope this helps.....

How do I switch on wireless capability on an acer laptop travelmatep453?

On Acer laptops, wireless capability can be enabled by using a combination of keys on the keyboard. In most of the Acer laptops, there is also a dedicated wireless switch located on the top of the keyboard. The icon representing this dedicated switch can vary depending upon the model. To know more about this, you can refer to the guidelines mentioned on the link below:

See picture below. Look for toggle switch near where #9 is. That should allow you to turn off the wireless transmitter.

Acer 6930 wireless adapter failure conflict

Most Acers use a form of Intel IPN2220 Wireless card. If yours does, you use XP and your router is using WPA or WPA2 (TKIP or AES) security then you'll need to update the driver by searching for it manually using the Custom button (Hardware) in Windows update (instead of Express). This driver is not part of XP service pack 2 or 3. Like me you've fallen foul of thinking that keeping your computer up to date using Automated Windows Update will keep everything in good order when in fact it can generate more problems than it solves

I had wireless for some reason it has been disabled how do i enable the wireless adaptor

To enable wireless adaptor, check for switch at sides of the laptop. There is a wireless switch which enables or disables wireless.

On some laptops, there is a function key (Fn), press Fn and F7(or F5) at the same time to enable it
