Deleting a Tweet You can delete any of your own Tweets from Twitter at any time. Please note that you can only delete Tweets you have posted, you cannot delete other accounts' Tweets from your timeline. How to delete one of your Tweets

From the Twitter for iOS app:

1. In the top menu, tap your profile icon.
2. Tap Profile.
3. Locate the Tweet you want to delete.
4. Tap the icon located at the top of the Tweet.
5. Tap Delete Tweet.
6. Tap Delete to confirm

To post a Tweet:

1. Sign in to your Twitter account.
2. Type your Tweet into the box on the left side of your screen, or click the compose new Tweet button in the top navigation bar.
3. fewer than 140 characters. We'll count the characters for you! Remaining characters show up as a number below the box.
4. Click the Tweet button to post the Tweet to your profile.
5. You will immediately see your Tweet in the timeline on your homepage.

You can tweet anyone by going to their profile and clicking 'Mention' and then type whatever message you need to convey in 140 characters and click Tweet.

Please Find below few twitter terminologies that might be of help to you while using twitter:

• Tweet - Message you want to post to the world. If you have locked your tweets(via Settings),only people who follow you can read those tweets
• Retweet - Repost a tweet somebody else had posted. You can see your tweets retweeted,your retweets,etc in Retweets tab.
  
• Reply - You can reply to tweet. When Replying,you Mention the person whom you want to reply and click Tweet.
• Direct Message (DM) - Sending Message within twitter. You can Direct Message only to a person who is following you. You cannot DM a person who you follow or who you don't follow.
• Mention - You can mention a person and send a tweet to them. It is like 'hey @username , this is for you'. When people follow you and the targeted receiver,they can see this tweet in their timeline.
• Timeline - The homepage when you sign in to twitter. Tweets posted by people who you follow will appear in your timeline. Your tweets will appear in Timeline of your followers.
• Follow - Following someone in Twitter. You receive their tweets in your timeline.
• UnFollow - Stops following that person in Twitter. You no more receive their tweets in your timeline.
• Block - You can block some person from contacting you via Twitter.
• Report Spam - You can report a user when he/she spams your timeline.
• Add to List - you can add person to specific lists. You can see tweets of people according to the lists you add them to in the Lists tab.
• #(hashtag) - The main feature of twitter that made it famous worldwide. You can add #sometrend to your tweet. When more people add the same '#sometrend' in their tweet,it appears in the Recent Trends. More the people tweet with '#sometrend' , more it gains attention from people worldwide. Do not use more than three hashtag for single tweet. Using so will cause twitter to detect your tweets as spam.
• Twitterer - You. Account holder in Twitter. Commonly called as Tweeple.

Sending a private or direct message on twitter is fairly simple. Log in to your account and click messages at the top of the screen. This will take you to the messages section of your account.

Once you're viewing the messages section, click the "New Message" button located toward the top of the screen. A small window will appear. Enter the recipient of your message in the first input and your full message text in the second, click send.

From time to time your tweets will not appear in your timeline.

At this moment, coincidentally, my timeline shows zero tweets for my account. However, the folks at Twitter do tend to let you know whats going on with twitter at status.twitter.com.

Backupmytweets.com for example is the kind of service you might enjoy for keeping track of old tweets.
