Replace batteries

Marcia Boal... hello,

If our battery has corroded it may be impossible to get the end (opposite the light) cap to come off. The light is designed to be moisture resistant... Likewise even penetrating oil cannot get in...

To guarantee long reliable service it is best to put a tiny dot of grease on the threads on assembly.

Maglite Solitaire makes a wonderful little flashlight...
(all metal construction... single AAA battery)...
((Mini = 2 AAA batteries... opens the same)).

Basic colors included black, red, silver & blue
but this particular light was also quite popular for commercialization... often displaying many BIG NAME
COMPANY LOGOs.

The initial closure of the end cap can be quite loose to be effective because of it's O-ring design... however some folks put the end cap on too tight...

The

It might take some serious force to get it open again.

Consider using a piece of leather in a pair of pliers to avoid marring the case. Reassemble without over-tightening.

Hope this helps!

Not sure which bit to unscrew when trying change battery in onyx50

The flashlight uses 1 AA battery. My guess, you should only have to unscrew the end cap. If you finds it very hard to unscrew the end cap off, it could be from the battery has explode and swollen. MAYBE - I see this happen in my daughters MAG flashlight. DO not keep your flashlight in the car with the batteries installed. The amount of heat in the cars can ruin the batteries in the flashlight.

How do you open a Coleman flashlight

You need to specify the model of the flashlight. However, for most of them you simply unscrew the bulb head or the battery end cap, empty the old batteries and insert the new ones with the positive end of the batteries always pointing toward the bulb end and the negative end of the batteries toward the spring in the end cap.. Be sure to discard the batteries properly. Contact your local trash disposal company to determine where and how to dispose of them.

Remove Battery to replace

Hello. The correct way to the battery would be to unscrew the end cap all the way. The Battery will then fall away allowing for a new battery insertion. Hope this helps.

How do you get the battery case open?

hold the battery pack in you hands with the system facing away from you. Holding the unit firmly, grasp the right hand end and twist it toward you. The batteries should be placed with the two outside positive ends up and the middle one with the negative end up. Place the end back on the battery case with the top of the cap slightly toward you; push in firmly and twist it back into alignment with battery case.

Frozen tail cap

Sprayed penetrating oil all the way around the end cap at seal area. Layed flashlight on it's side on a plastic block & tapped on housing just below the end cap with composite mallet while rotating. Then used aluminum jaws in a vise to hold housing while turning end cap with large pliers.
Once cap is off, clean corrosion with automotive battery cleaner & soak inside with more penetrating oil to remove batteries.
