You can open it and remove the broken part from inside, and can attach a new one in place. The base stand can be bought from electronic spare market. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Disassemble procedure to many popular devices are given with illustrations. I have a 42 in. Vizio Galleria and need to remove table top stand so I can wall mount. How do I remove base stand?

1. Unplug all of the cables and cords from your GV42L FHDTV10A.
2. Place the GV42L FHDTV10A face down on a soft and flat surface (blanket, foam, cloth, etc) to prevent any damage to the TV.
3. Pull the stand cover off by squeezing the sides to release the retaining plastic tabs.
(This is probably the trickiest part to find this, just feel around and don't be too rough with the plastic)
4. Remove the four (4) screws (screw's specs: M4, 0.7 Pitch, 15mm long) so that the stand base can be removed.
5. Gently remove the stand base
6. Now, the GV42L FHDTV10A can fit securely to a mount (sold separately) by utilizing the mounting holes in the center of the back panel of the TV. Please make sure to read the instructions of your specific mount to properly hang the GV42L FHDTV10A

Do all flat screens use different bases

Flatscreens made by the same manufacturer and of similar screen size may share the type of base but mostly they are different.

For example a 27" Sony may have the same base as a 32"Sony, but it will be different than a 46" Sony.

The specifications and the OWNER'S MANUAL for your tv is found at the following link:

http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/televisions/DX-L42-10A.html?supportTab=open

The direct link to your OWNER'S MANUAL is here:

http://www.dynexproducts.com/cms/documents/DX-L37-L42-10A_08-1837_MAN_V1_ENG%20Final%20lr.pdf

It looks like DYNEX uses the same base for their 37" and their 42" tv's but that's not guaranteed.

Good luck and comment back if this was helpful.

GENTILITY lay that set face down on a table covered with a thick blanket. There should be 4 long threaded bolts near the bottom that fasten the legs of the stand inside the framework of the set.. Remove these and the stand should slide right out.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!

There are two handles on this set that come off with the removal of two screws. The base has posts that slide in up from the bottom. Trace the legs up and remove the two screws that hold each leg. You need a second person to help lift the set from the base. Now mount to the wall bracket.

How to Remove the Base

I have an Olevia 42" TV. I was able to remove the base by removing 16 screws on the back side. They were arranged vertically in 4 sets of 4. The screws go through the back panel, through the base and attach (without nuts) directly into the inside of the TV. After removing the 16 screws the stand simply slides out.
I tried removing two screws underneath the base area. They were small screws and were a pain to remove. I thought I would try that first instead of removing 16 screws but that did nothing.
Good luck!
