Ge gas dryer heats but doesnt dry

if the flame is lighting you have lint blocking the air flow either in the dryer or in the vent line, also if you have a flame for the first 10 to 20 minutes and then the flame doesn't light you have bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, when the coils are bad they can work for the first 10 to 20 minutes until the coils get hot and then they fail and you'll see the ignitor glowing orange but no flame, bad gas coils.then when the coils cool down they can work again.hope this can try removing the vent line from the back of the dryer and see if the flame stays on,if lint is blocking the air from blowing out the flame won't stay lit long enough to dry the clothes.

I have a LG7188RM gas dryer and it is not heating up

I had a problem with this dryer and the solution was not difficult. The dryer has a system which tests if the ignition source and igniter works. There are two coils for this. The first coil opens and ignites for about a minute or two. Then once this is "OK" the second coil opens and then the gas is allowed to flow fully. If the dryer feels warm after a couple of minutes of dry time and then seems to cool down the second coil is no good and needs to be changed. Just remove the coil wires and ohm each one with a multimeter. The open coil is the bad one. Good luck.

Kenmore Gas Dryer 11070852991. Have replaced the thermal fuse , operating thermostat, and High limit thermostat Still same problem . the dry starts ok egnites on and off for the 1st 10 minutes. Then stops...

bad gas coils,if you have heat for say the first 10 minutes then no heat you have bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, when the coils cool down you'll have heat again this is what happens when they start to fail, also when you change them out on the large coil there's a metal spacer that should be on the post when you remove the coil if it isn't on the post look inside the coil you have to pop it out and slide it back on post part number 279834 remove the two phillips screws, and remove the metal cover, remove the wires from the coil and install the new coils, easy job as long as you know what to look for lol hope this helps you out and good luck

Frigidaire crown gas dryer runs fine but after about 10 minutes it turns itself off and i cant turn it back on for about an hour

From the description you give the most likely cause of this problem are bad gas coils or a bad gas valve.

You say you see the flames for 10 minutes before it stops heating but you don't mention if the igniter is continuing to glow. One thing we need to know is if the igniter continues to cycle on and off when the dryer stops heating.

There is a small square plug on the front panel you can remove to try and visually check if the igniter is glowing.

The problem won't be the thermal fuse or one of the thermostats. Once the fuse is open the dryer won't heat but it won't start to heat after 20 minutes.

After the dryer runs ten minutes and stops heating then check if the igniter is still cycling on and off. This is important because if the igniter is working then the thermostats and igniter are okay.

When the igniter glows at some point you might hear a click and the igniter would stop glowing. The click is from the flame sensor and after the click and the voltage is removed from the igniter at the same instant the voltage is applied to the gas coils and you should get a flame.

You might hear a hum, buzz or vibration from the coils when this happens. If the coils seem to react to the voltage but there is no flame then most likely the gas valve is bad. If the coils don't do anything then most likely the coils are the problem. The gas valve and gas coils can work for 10-15 minutes and then heat up and stop working till everything cools down.

One other thing I must tell you about the gas coils. Here is a link to the gas coils you will need. These are the new style that will last quite a bit longer the the older one. The coils are like the spark plugs in your car. The will need replacing in time due to wear. Below is a video to walk you thru the repair process.

Coil replacement

I'm not an expert but assuming you ordered the coils for your dryer your dryer must have them. I just finshed repairing my kenmore gas dryer after about 10 minutes the gas would shut off. This is becasue the coils that are on top of the gas line before the ignigter were defective. The coils control the gas valve and when my dryer got hot the coil being defective would close the valve. There are 2 coils a 2 prong and a 3 prong. Remove the front panel to gain access to the bottom of the dryer from there you will see your coils about as round as a quarter and 10 or so high. unscrew the screws holding down the retainer and undue the electrical clip. reverse for the install. good luck!

Gas dryer get hot but than goes cold

This sounds like a problem with your fan motor. The dryer is getting too hot and the gas is shutting off until it cools down. That fan keeps the dryer cool by moving the heat to the clothes in the drum.
You can easily check this by feeling for air flow in front of the exhaust vent outside. No air movement = fan problem = heat shut off in 10 minutes. Good luck

Our Kenmore gas dryer heats up when we first turn it on, but after it cycles off, and then it's time to fire up again, it won't fire up. The glow light gets hot, but no gas. If we let it cool off for 15...

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim. And please don't forget to give me your rating for my help. Thanks!

I have a gas Gas dryer with low heat. The igniter is good, the gas valve opens and I get a flame, but it never heats up past 89 degrees. I'm guessing there is a secondary gas valve or something that kicks...

if the vent line is blocked or lint is built up in the duct where the lint filter slides into the flame will only stay on for like 5 to 10 seconds or the gas coils are bad, when the coils are starting to fail you'll have heat for the first 10 to 15 minutes and then no heat, when the coils cool down they will work again, these are the two most common problems with a gas dryer, try removing the vent line from the back of dryer and run it to see if it heats any better if so you have a block in the vent line.or run the dryer for 15 minutes and look at the flame and see if it still ignites,if not the coils are time send the brand name and model number off of the dryer, open the door look around the opening where you put the clothes in and you'll see the model number good luck.if those two things check good you could have a bad cycling thermostat located on the blower wheel housing but i would check for a block in the pipe or lint filter duct.
