Question about Bernina BERNETTE 65 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Open Question

I have a Bernina Bernette 65. The bobbin thread is not coming out. The bobbin is not even moving. I wonder if there is something I should be able to fix by myself. Thanks!

It could be that there is a loose piece of thread, or some fluff which is obstructing the tension gauge. Try blowing around the theading area (or even run the hoover pipe near it to see if you can **** it out). I cleared mine by folding a piece of non fluffy material and rubbing gently between the tension dial and machine.

Good luck

Presumably neither of you has or knows how to adjust your bobbin tension so, I'm going to presume it's your hook. Make sure you are threading the machine coorectly then you'll need to remove your needle plate by removing the two screws, pull out your hook (this is the part your bobbin sits in) but make sure you note which way it sits inside your machine. Have a look at the plastic hook for any sharp edges or burs, you may need to replace your hook or try and gently sand (400grit) the plastic if possible. The key part of the hook is the small blunted point as this is what catched the loop of thread behind the needle. Please make sure that when you put your hook back in, that it is on the left side of that little guard sticking out on the lower right of your machine.

SOURCE: Machine is threaded but the needle will not pick

Make sure the needle is not bent and is threaded from the front to the back.

The needle should be installed with the flat side of the needle shaft facing the back of the sewing machine.

Lower & raise the threaded needle, holding onto the end of the thread.

Then begin to sew.

If this does not help, then it may be the timing needs to be adjusted and this has to be done by a Bernina repair tech.

When I press the pedal the string get tangled and I also have problems with the bobbin thread not being picked up! Please help! Thanks margaret

thread the machine correctly( follow the operators manual)
wind the bobbin properly and when placing the bobbin in the bobbin carrier pull the thread down the small slot and under the spring plate
thread for the needle always comes in from the left (The side of the groove in the needle ) and out the cut away side
pull a long piece of thread for the needle out and hold it while you turn the machine over
after 1 or 2 revolutions the needle thread will bring up the bobbin thread and you then pull both threads out a bit
if you don't have a user/operators manual there are 2 options
one is to go google and type in --user manual for bernina bernette model 65 sewing machine and down load the pdf version
the other option is to visit manchester shops ( cloth and fabric shops ) and talk with the sales people as may of these places have a sewing circle of people who will be only to willing to help you.

How do I turn off THE BOBBIN winder on a Bernette 65 sewing machine?

The bobbin spindle needs to be moved to the left in the slot to disengage the winding mechanism. (It may be easier to do this with the bobbin on the spindle. The bobbin and spindle should be moved to the right after putting the bobbin on for winding.)

The directions and pictures for winding the bobbin are on page 30-31 of the manual. The manual is available from Bernina on their support page for the out-of-print Bernette machine manuals: .http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/bernette-manuals/Bernette-Sewing-Machines . The direct link to the Bernette 65 manual is here: http://www.bernina.com/getdoc/6d2754b8-af09-4edb-a6a6-7a4c57965b8d/bernette-55-65-80e-90e .

I hope this helps.

How to insert bobbin in a bernette 680 sewing machine?

Try going to this link and download the manual for either the Bernette 410 or 715 and look at the directions for threading and inserting the bobbin:
http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/bernette-manuals/Bernette-Sewing-Machines

Bernina may not have a manual for your particular model, but these models may be close enough that you can still use the directions for your machine.

Why won't my Bernette 65 pick up the bobbin thread

Try changing the needle

Try rethreading the machine top and bobbin

Make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way In the bobbin case

It's possible that the machine needs to be checked for a timing problem

My Bernina Bernette 65 has a problem with the thread bunching up every 10-15 stiches on the bottom. Some of the thread stitches on the bottom of the fabric are in a straight line, and then the thread will...

try a new needle--one that is for the fabric being sewed
then try to adjust the top thread tension again, if the stitches remain loose and the tension won't adjust then the tension knob needs to be checked to see if there is something wrong with it.
also check to make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, if the bobbin is not turned the right way in the bobbin case the sewing machine will not stitch correctly.

My bernette 65 is bunching underneath. How do I resolve that?

Grasp the threads and hold them down when you start your seam. If it still happens make sure your thread is seated into your upper tension mechanisms. If that still isn't solving your problem... CLEAN between the tension discs with some sturdy fabric folded in half. (wax build up from threads can cause issues)

Good luck

My Bernette 65 sewing machine isn't pulling my main thread through. Bobbin tread is being pulled fine. What could the problem be?

Make sure you have a new needle in first and the correct way round, failing that the machine may need retiming

BERNINA 802 BOBBIN THREAD WILL NOT COME UP THROUGH THE NEEDLE HOLE

try this
first make sure the needle is not damaged
make sure there is a 3-5 inch tail for the bobbin thread
make sure there is a 3-5 inch tail for the top thread & hold the top thread tail with your fingers (away from the needle) now with your other hand use the handwheel on the right side of the machine to slowly lower the needle down to the bobbin area & see if it will pick up the bobbin thread
