I have a slim ps2 that used to work fine but now it is messed up,before my ps2 got messed up I bought a few games that worked fine on it but one day I decided to buy pince of persia the two thrones and when I played the game it worked fine but suddenly when I turned on my console I found that it cannot read any ps2 game and the sceen turns red saying please insert a playstion 1 or playstaion 2 game and I blame the pince of persia game, I send it to the repair but worse after a week I got my ps2 and I found that it reads the game slower than usual and it keeps repeating the sounds in the games and when I got new games I found that it works better than the old games but that doesnnot change anything I still blame that game because it prevented my ps2 from reading awesome games for example when i reach certain points in the gta sa game it says error reading disk,I rember that I played huger games and never seen this error reading disk before so can some one please tell me what shall I do

Yes I see your problem!
1)Did You Drop the ps2 at all?
2)Maybe Your using the wrong disk...(like old ps1 or copied ps2 games)
3)Maybe it just stopped working...if You got it recently go get it exchanged or fixed(check the warranty)...
4)if it doesnt turn on then its most likely broken or messed up...
5)if the game doesnt work it may be scratched or need to be cleaned
6)clean the ps2!get a computer/game console sprayer...
7)they also have cd cleaning devices that get rid of the scratches (not too big or long though)
well uhmmmmm maybe its both ps2 and gta:sa i dont own a ps2 slim anymore but it worked with mine old one fine go to a gamestop technitian and ask him about your problem bring you games in and he could test it out
well its probly that that the specific problem is the games that dont work are probly scratch and or there not comptible with that software on your ps2...............there you go..................be good stay in school
the laser is dirty or damaged. Try swabbing the lens with rubbing alcohol and immediately drying with canned air. if that doesn't work, a repair shop can do a more in depth cleaning, but there is the chance that the DVD portion may never work again.
I do this repair about 5 times a day...
Blocking the sensors did you in I'm afraid. What has happened is the *DVD* read mechanism has gotten goofed because of this, but the *CD* read mechanism is still ok. Maximo and a few other PS2 games were actually on CD, not DVD. If you look on the back cover, you will see the Compact Disc logo (in the lower right area on the box for Maximo). These games have a blue bottom disc instead of the silver bottom.
You can attempt to re-align the laser which is a fairly lengthy process and there are numerous guides out there to do this. Here is one: http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars
Note that this guide is for the larger model but the concept of lens adjustment is still the same and a quick google search will provide more in-depth detail. Since you have already opened your system, this may be an option for you. If the PS2 was purchased new as you said, it might not be the worst idea to exchange it for a new model as the lens going out this soon might be an indication that the unit wouldn't have lasted that long to begin with.
Also just a friendly reminder that opening your PS2 voids your warranty and double check the return policies of where you bought the system.
