2007 chevy impala ss radio stop working and now car wont start

Assuming the battery is fully charged, the connections from the battery red to starter motor & relay are tight, and black terminal from battery to engine block (or chassis) are tight, and cables &/or terminals are not corroded, and the battery electrolyte levels are not low to expose the battery lead plates, the symptoms you describe sounds like a main fuse panel issue. Some cars have two fuse panels; one beneath the driver or passenger console, another one beneath the hood in engine area. If fuses are OK, then not enough electrons are passing through when you turn the key, meaning something is acting as a resistor to prevent free flow of electrons (loose connections or corroded terminals or cables). When you pop open the caps off the battery, each cell holds 2 volts. If the lead plates are exposed, that cell will hold less than 2 volt. Replenish with distilled water or battery electrolyte (sold at some auto parts store, so call around instead of driving all over town). If you have a battery charger & digital voltage meter, the battery should read 12.6 to 13 volts for fully charge. If below this, touch black probe on voltage meter to negative side of battery, then dip red probe on each of battery cell's electrolyte. Write down the voltage reading of each cell, then hook up the battery charger let charge for half an hour or so until battery shows 12.6 or higher reading after unplugging the charger. With charger unplugged, take digital voltage meter and take 2nd voltage reading of each cell, dipping red probe into electrolyte while black probe touches negative side of battery. Write down voltage reading of each cell. Wait half an hour to 45 minutes, then take a 3rd voltage reading of each cell. If there's a drop in voltage reading on one cell from the 2nd time, this cell is not holding a charge and its draining power from the adjacent cells, resulting in eventually leaving a dead battery after it had been parked over the weekend. Replace the battery. This method of diagnosis to check battery condition is more accurate than a load test. I've seen batteries that will pass a load test, yet battery goes dead after the car (or semi truck or bus) had been parked for 2 or 3 days because the faulty cell had drained power from the adjacent cells next to it. In semi trucks & buses, when the battery goes dead, it continues to drain the power from other batteries that are hooked in parallel or series to other batteries.

Daughter put a dime in car charger opening, after removing dime phones will not charge, pulled the 20a fuse for cig/car charger and replaced it with a new one, still does not work???

is there power in wire to lighter. if not the coin may have shorted the wiring out. to check it, run a wire from a 12 volt source to the lighter. if it works then hook this wire to it, and put a fuse in the line some where. good-day ! but leave the old fuse in its own spot. it may be powering something else. if not just remove it.

How to charge battery

Hello: Make sure key is off, open hood, on passenger side near inside of of fender you will see the positive and negative connections that go to the battery. (the battery is under the back seat on the passenger side, you might check connections to the battery for excessive corrossion) When checking for corrosion, remove cables from battery, the negative (black) first then the positive (red) Make sure key is off. If no corrosion re-connect battery. Hook up charger under the hood (black lead to black ground point and red to red positive point. then follow directions on your charger. Remember ignition key off.

2007 Vue hybrid. 12-volt battery dead? No electric key opening, lights, starting, etc. Can I try to trickle charge it? We;ve been away a week, but it has been sitting in a garage above 50 degrees.

If the battery is completely dead a trickle charge won't do much. These are designed to keep a good battery good. You need a regular battery charger set to 10 amps for a couple hours then 2 amps overnight. Be aware that sometimes if your battery has been completely killed it may not work for long, that is your car will start but within a few days or hours it will leave you stranded. You'll know because it will drag when you try to start it. Sometimes you get lucky and it works great for years.

Next time do use a trickle charger! Also if the charge you use is automatic then you can leave it hooked up in 2 amp mode when you are gone. Good luck!

I am trying to hook up an aftermarket stereo to my 2008 mitsubishi lancer. the wiring harnesses (metra 70-7005 and mito-02) that i have do not appear to line up with the mitsubishi wiring. when turned on,...

Power to most radios is the red wire and ground is black. Do not mix up the two and make sure your plugs match "red for red" and "black to black" (the ground some times will also be green). If not you can blow a fuse in your box which you might need to check. If you have a meter you can check your car harness plug to see if you have 12 volts on your red coming out. If not make sure your fuse is good and you have the power on in the car (key turned backwards on most cars will power the harness if not turn if forward like you are going to crank it. If you are not sure the radio is good, you can pop the hood of your car and hook up the red wire from the radio to positive side of the battery cable and the black to the ground side of the battery cable and you should be able to turn the radio on. If you see it power up, you will know your problem is in your harness. Hope this helps
