Have wi-fi but my grandson's tablet(nextbook) says no connection. Wi-fi says it's connected but can't access anything

With Home wifi, you have to put in the access code.

With public wifi, you have to open your browser to a new page to get the redirect to accept terms and conditions.

Why wont my next book 8 tablet automatically connect to wifi

Not many will connect automatically Kathleen, unless it is your home wifi and you have marked it to connect automatically.

Normally, you go to Settings - WiFi and manually connect. If it is 'Free' wifi in a public place, you always have to open a browser to a new page and click 'Connect' to accept the terms and conditions. I work in an airport lounge and have lost count of the number of people that tell me our wifi doesn't work, when in reality, they just didn't do the final step.

Son gave me a kindle fire, says I have an excellent wifi and then asks me to sign up for exfinity? Why isn't my home internet acceptable. Everything else in the house is wireless connected.

There are MANY "XfinityWifi" hotspots around the US. You may have connected to one of them inadvertently. Select the hotspot and choose "Forget this network". Now, connect to your home wifi. Good luck.

Why doesn't my digiland tablet connect to the internet at work. The wifi info says it's connected and excellent! Works fine at home. I also use a Nook Tablet and it connects fine!

Usually with 'work wifi', or any public hotspot, merely connected isn't enough. You have to open your browser and connect to a new page. It has to be something that isn't in history or cache. I favour ba.com because it is short. Accept the Terms and Conditions and click Connect. Once the page refreshes, you are connected.

At home, you are connecting to your own internet and not through a third party company like Datavalet, Boingo or similar. There is no terms and conditions to accept, so you are immediately connected.

Authentication problem. Reset wifi and tablet. Nothing is working.

An "authentication problem" means that that the wifi does not accept the wifi password that the device is providing, or that its MAC address may be on the exception list, not allowing it to connect. Verify that the tablet is using the proper wifi password for the system you are trying to connect to, and that you are using the same wifi security (WEP/WPA/WPA2) on the tablet that the wifi is using.

I can't get my new Kindle to accept any of the numbers I can find on my Livebox. Which string of numbers does it want, please?!

So livebox is some sort of internet provider? Is it WiFi? If so then the kindle would connect just like any other wifi device like a laptop or smartphone. You need the SSID of the wifi device and the password.

Wifi connecting

When creating a connection to internet, you need a point (read : router) which facilitates this. If you don't have a router in your neighbourhood, you can't connect to the internet. Even if there is one near you, you must be able to see it, by checking at your tablet for wireless connections. However, some routers are set to accept only connections, when a user ( your tablet) can provide this password everytime it tries to connect to the internet.

Schematic of internetconnection :

Tablet --- WiFi Router --- Modem --- Internet(provider).
