Exact same problem... took a couple of hours of fiddling but seems that to get it to stick you have to change the printer settings in windows rather than when you are actually printing a document. eg Control Panel > Printers > right click printer > Properties > (General tab) Printing Preferences > then for Double-Sided Printing select 'none' and press OK.
