Question about Jenn-Air Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Jenn-Air oven display blank. Only works when oven has heated up.

I have two Jenn-Air ovens with bad displays. The one in the oven I use most is completely dark, the other is barely visible. HOWEVER, they illuminate after the oven has been on for a while and heated things up. Once the oven cools down, the display dims then goes blank. I checked the capacitors and they all look fine. The only thing that jumped out at me was the corner of the LCD has a "burn" spot. I don't know if this is normal or not, but it's like this on both displays. I was hoping this would be a cheap fix (like a bad cap or something) as I don't feel like shelling out $160+ for each display unit. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks, Nealage! My capacitors didn't show any outward signs of being bad but I replaced the same two as you and now it works!

However, now one of them displays an -F7- fault code and beeps continuously. I remember it doing this a while ago but it went away. I tried shutting off its power for a minute but that didn't help. Also, the "cancel" button on this oven doesn't work. Any ideas?

I had the same problem and just fixed it myself today. Not sure if your timer board is the same but I replaced capacitor C3 35volt 68uf. I also have the dark spot on the clock glass in the corner but it still works. I purchased the cap from digikey.com P10292-ND. I also replaced the cap next to it 35volt 470uf P10301-ND not sure if that was necessary but it smelled a little burnt. The display is normal brighness again - total cost 1/2 hour of my time and $4 parts and shipping. Digi-Key is great I ordered the parts on Thursday 7/23 and got it today 7/25.

    2jwanek-
The beeping could be a stuck or shorted key on the touch pad.
If your cancel button is not working it may be the problem. I would
inspect the ribbon cable that goes into the control board. Check each
copper lan for any cracks especially where there are folds. I am not
sure what can be done with the touch key pad as far as a diy fix. I have
never taken it out. Does each oven have its own touch key pad? If so,
you could swap clock boards (providing they are the same) and if the
problem follows the board it would be with the circuitry on
the board. If it stays with the oven it is most likely in the touch
key pad. If it is the key pad determine if it can be taken apart and inspected for anything obvious. If the problem is with the board not sure how to fix that without a schematic of the circuity.

Jenn Air W30400 wall oven does not heat.

Turn off the power to the oven.
Remove the racks.
Remove the BAKE element screws and carefully pull the element out.
Remove the wires from the element, being careful not to let the wires fall back into the oven cavity.
Use a volt meter set for continuity and touch the meter leads to the element terminals.
No reading is a bad element.
Replace the element.
If you do get a reading, the electronic control is bad.

that board supplies power to the light unit and it is very easy to replace if that is what is wrong. it can also be the led display unit also. cost about $150 each i think.

Alarm continusly dings and display is blank.

Spencer...I hope you did this with the power off! First, disconnect all connections and reconnect them. You may have forced a connector. Likely the board is blown...the display and microprocessor are closely connected.

Display blank

Every time I have seen this problem, it has been a bad display assembly. These are fairly easy to change yourself, but the part is kind of expensive, I think in the $150-$200 range. Hope this helps!
