there is the HV board on the back under a cover . 2 680uf capacitors @ 35v are likely domed instead of flat on the top and are likely hot. replacing these with an equal value will cure the problem. they are in parallel so 1000 and 470uf will cure it. mine was same model except white. local dealer said no warranty. did not call maytag but he indicated it might help. good luck

Sounds like you just need to do a reset, press and hold the top 2 buttons till it flashes then let go. If you hold it to long it will run a diagnostic mode and may lock up on the blinking light again. The blinking light is a trouble indicator for the service tech. It tells them that sensor or heater is faulty or will point them in the right direction. I found a repair manual on the online auction place E b a y that can help you troubleshoot further but have not bought it as of yet. I just purchased my Samsung and was reading some reviews to see what kind of problems i may run in to.

The evaporator coils are blocked with ice. This is caused by either having the door partially open or the automatic defrost function has stopped working.
For the moment... unplug the unit, remove freezer contents and direct an external fan into the unit for just over 2 hours. (Water mess) After 2 hours tend to the excess water / tidy up and return the unit to normal service. If the problem repeats in 2 - 3 days you have and automatic defrosting problem and the defrosting system will need to be repaired.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
