I don't know if its any help but I've fixed my Honda with similar problem. It turns out I reassembled the rich carbys air cut off valve incorrectly. Have you checked yours? I'm wondering if the cut off valves somehow affect the other parts of the carbys. Mine is running sweet now.

not sure on the exact specs but flip the carb upside down and look how the floats look to the horizon of the earth. Sounds silly but that is how pretty much all bike mechanics set them, just make them level to the earth. Good luck

SOURCE: just need the height setting for the floats the

YOU CAN ADJUST FLOATS WITHOUT SPECIAL TOOLS. ALL YOU NEED IS A FOOT LONG PIECE OF CLEAR TUBING, SIZED TO FIT THE BOWL DRAIN. SET FLOATS AS CLOSE TO WHAT THEY WERE WHEN YOU REPLACED IT. INSTALL THE BOWL AND PUT THE TUBE ON THE DRAIN. OPEN THE BOWL DRAIN SCREW WHILE HOLDING THE TUBE UP BESIDE THE CARB. WHEN YOU GET THE TUBE BESIDE THE CARB ASSY., THE GAS IN THE TUBE SHOWS YOU THE EXACT LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE BOWL. FROM THIS YOU CAN MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS NECESSARY FOR CORRECT LEVEL. THE LEVEL SHOULD BE RIGHT BELOW THE PLANE WHERE THE BOWL MEETS THE CARB BASE.

1979 MX100. What is the float height setting on a Mikuni 3M100 carburetor?

As has been explained previously, the most common float level check is done with the carby off the bike and held in the horizontal plane, using a piece of tubing on the fuel inlet and gently blowing in the tube while at the same time raising and lowering the float to find the point at which you cannot blow into the tube. The float should be sitting in a horizontal position at that point. If it isn't you need to adjust the tab that locates the needle valve that shuts off the fuel. This is a rule of thumb adjustment only.

I am currently doing a carburetor rebuild on my yamaha and I am trying to adjust the float height, but I am having trouble finding the clearance

this is a rule of thumb for carbies where the float is pivoted from the top cover
with the float in position turn the top upside down and the float will now be in the position it is in when controlling the fuel
the float top should now be close to parallel to the top cover it is attached to
if you manage to get a measurement for that distance it is measured by the specified measurement as a twist drill and it is to move under the float as you roll it along the top cover
not to move it up or miss it but just touch it
adjustment is by bending the small tang that is connected to the needle
now if such a measurement is not available simply ask your service dealer what it is
