Question about Xerox Phaser 7760DN Laser Printer

Open Question

Xerox 7760DN. Getting "The printer is in use" Have powered on/off several times. Left it unplugged. How to I clear this / delete? theres nothing showing in the que until I try to print. Thanks!

When you go into the eliminate light stripes there is also a mode called Jet Substitution. You can sometimes bypass the bad jets.
If that does not work then the print head will most likely need to be replaced.
You can replace the printer for less than the cost of a print head normally..

First off try unplugging it and leaving it unpluged for 30 minutes. Not just turned off, but unplugged, then plug it back in and see if it works. There are filter capicitors in the low voltage power supply that sometimes have to sit with power removed for 30 minutes before they discharge and allow the power supply to turn on.
Sounds weird but I have seen it fix a dead machine probably 50 times or more. If that doesn't restart then you will have to replace the power supply. If that is the case let me know and I can tell you where to get it from and ho\w to replace it.
Try leaving it unpluged for 30 minutes. not less than 30 minutes.

There is nothing you can do about the cleaning page. And if its only using 20% of your ink, you're luck normally its 25% of the ink. This is simply how the machine works. Nothing can be done. The Xerox employee was simply trying to give you something to try, but it won't change anything!

Reset fuser on Xerox phaser 7760


You don't need to reset it it. It should automatically reset with no problem you can try to clear the NVRAM . Careful because you will lose all the information you have stored in it like any IP address or specific settings. What it will do is bring the printer to"factory default settings. You can do it in "service diagnostic mode. goodluck

Hi i have Xerox 7760DN with both ps anc pcl enabled - there's a 68 page document getting prited everytime the printer is turned with bunch of gibbersih from startup. DO you know the resolution for


Sounds like a print job was sent to that printer using the wrong print driver. Unplug the printer from the network and see if it only prints the startup page. If so, then you need everyone to cancel the print jobs they sent to this printer. Then hook the network cable back to the printer and see if a print job can be sent to it (one that has worked in the past). I suspect someone has an old printer driver that is using this machines IP address to print to and it is confusing the Image Processor Board...

Hi Glyph,

Kindly refer to the following procedures to help you resolve the issue:

1. Check with Xerox to see if you have a service contract. Some times it's included and you never knew.

2. Turn off and unplug the printer from the power point. Put a lot of clean paper on the floor. Take out all the toner cartridges, toner belts, anything that can be replaced. Then place everything back in. Plug back in and turn on.

3. Try to bring the printer up in the service mode. Turn on the power while holding down the back and help buttons. It should say "service diagnostics ". They also had a lot of problems with third part ram chips. If you have installed extra ram try removing it and booting up with just the xerox ram in the printer.

did you try adjusting the settings on the printer driver itself as in go to printers and faxes....right click on the printer and left click properties........under the advanced tab choose printing defaults and change the settings on the printer driver

7760DN is printing pages of jibberish


You can go to Xerox.com and try some different drivers. But most likely you have an issue with the specific software printing to the machine. I would see if a different driver helps, then call 1-800-835-6100 and talk to second level support .
You can also go to the xerox site and click support and drivers, enter 7760 in the search field, then go to the support page, type in Quark in the search field there and see if they have any information there.
