Question about Bernina Sewing Machines
Just bought my used Bernina 1010; it was sold to me with a mechanical problem that was not mentioned. The problem is that I cannot wind thread onto bobbin because the hand-wheel release will not disengage the machine so that I can spin thread onto bobbin. It is so tight I would say that the hand-wheel and the release wheel (smaller wheel inside the hand-wheel) are one continuous unit and that they do not move separatley. What do I do?
In the meantime, you can pick up a stand-alone bobbin winding accessory at the local fabric store. Last time I saw them, they were around $30. Some sewists prefer to use the stand-alone bobbin threader because they can load bobbins without unthreading their sewing machine and it saves wear-n-tear on your machine.

Heat the wheel with a hair dryer to loosen. If this does not help, you will need to visit an authorized Bernina dealer.
