SOURCE: banana bread recipe for sunbeam 5895

I have made the following recipe in my West Bend machine with great results. I just got a Sunbeam 5895 at a garage sale - it works great - just wanted a different "shape" loaf! I'm going to use this recipe in my Sunbeam - don't see why it won't work!

Here's the recipe!
1/2 cup softened butter, cut into small pieces for good blending
1 cup mashed ripe banana (personal note: if my ripe bananas don't measure up to 1 cup, I add enough milk to make it 1 cup. Seems to be okay)
2 eggs, large, slightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Grease inside of pan and knead bar generously with vegetable shortening (I just spray with Pan Spray). All all ingredients in order listed above to pan. Lock pan into bread machine. Program for quick bread. After a few minutes of mixing, I usually take a rubber spatula and scrape down the sides and stir in any flour that has not been completely mixed. I didn't do this once and ended up with a loaf that had flour coated corners!

Good Luck! Enjoy!

SOURCE: Russell Hobbs RH2T toaster bread won't stay down w/o hold handle

Hi, most new toaster have a selenoid that hold down the handle while toasting then release when done so a spring bring the toast up. Possible problem with the selenoid, the electronic circuit that controls it or the plate that the selenoid holds. When you lower the handle you close the contacts of the AC line inside the toaster so if the handle is raised there is no power.

Fix sunbeam 3806 toaster that won't stay down and therefore heat bread.

Just a guess since I have had the same happen to my Proctor Sillex - When you push down the lever, you are actually completing the transformer frame that then magnetically keeps the toast down until it's setting lets the toaster pop up.
In my case, a piece of toast was wedged and I could not get the handle down so that the hardware was in place to magnetically hold. Have you tried to give your toaster a good thorough shaking upside down, unplugged over the garbage can or the sink?
Good luck Eric

Sunbeam toaster 3806 won't stay down and of course won't heat bread.

I have done this a couple of times over the years. Often, it is caused by an accumulation of crumbs around the thermal shut off sensor. This causes the toaster to shut off quicker because it gets too hot.
The fix it is unplugging the toaster, taking the outer shell off and cleaning all visible residue out of the toaster. Compressed air, wooden skewers, and slightly damp, lint free cloths are helpful.
Reminder: if wiping with damp cloths, please let toaster thoroughly dry before reassembly.
This was from another site but is the same as I would say or instead of the sensor, when you push down the handle, you are making a magnet circuit by putting the last part of transformer frame into place - a jammed piece of old toast can prevent this and then your toaster won't work. Unplug it, take it to the garbage can or the sink and pull our the crumb trays and after that, within reason give her a good shake and see what you dislodge
Good Thi

Sunbeam toaster model 6253 After placing two slices of bread and pushing down the leaver, leaver does not stay locked. What can I do to fix.

This is a maechanical fault and all you need to do is look for a lock that clicks to hold the tray down .This latch is controlled by the bimetal which when hot moves off and releases the tray.
So this strip could have moved off or damaged with use.
Might have to replace or try to repair to keep it in the lock postion..

I have a Sunbeam T-20B that I love. Have kept it working, but now with a new partner who did not understand it does not turn on! Can you help?

There is a screw at the bottom of the toaster under the bread crumb tray to adjust the sensitivity to weight, usually just needs a half or quarter turn to work. If that doesn't work you may have to open it up and adjust the bimetallic thermostat, and that's much trickier.
