It's ******* in most counties to listen to the Police and most of them use radios that operate a Frequency Hopping System which jumps over a select amount of frequencies at a fast rate.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Uniden police scanner

Hi,

Yes they are a great digital radio scanner, not POLICE scanner,

Police around the world are fed up with people using these to listen in on their operations, and are progressively moving to digital mode, but a mode that these scanners wont pick up, P25 or not.

There are many other things to listen in on, and it doesn't involve the law, fire, ambulance services.

If you're in a country or state or city where these services have gone to digital mode, then you're out of luck, you will not here anything on their frequencies.

But that's what happens when silly people use these radios in pursuits or any other way that hinders the service from doing the duties.

I feel no pain for your loss.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi afrench, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. After units set up for a period of time like that, the capacitors discharge. Make sure you have the batteries in correct and turn them on and leave them on 12 to 24 hours in order for them to charge up. Could be some corrosion built up from the batteries leaking. Let me know how it goes, we are always ready to help you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.....John

I cant listen to the police

First, make sure that you have the correct frequency for your local police. You can find a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area by visiting:
www.Reference.com

Program the frequency or frequencies using the instructions in the scanner's operating manual. and you should be all set. If you need the manual, you can download and print it, at no cost, here:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC60XLT-1om.pdf

NOTE: If the frequency database shows that your local police are using a trunked system, you will not be able to monitor them using the BC60XLT-1. Trunked systems require a trunking scanner. Many law enforcement agencies are also using digital systems for their communications. If that's the case in your area you'll need a scanner capable of monitoring APCO-25 digital transmissions.

your scanner will not tell you that, It will tell you if the police or talking and tell you were they or, If they or being sent to your area it will say were they or going to.
