Sounds to me like the oil shut off switch is doing its job if replacing the switch has the same result. I would look into what is causing the switch to close.

SOURCE: JD mower-only one coil firing

I just switched the coils around. The other cylinder went dead, so I knew I had a bad coil. Replaced the coil and mower runs great.

to be honest the enigne ahas a control that the left side must fire and run before the right starts to fire it sounds to me like you have a fuel issue possibly the carb. is gummed up and dirty.

Have new out of box Troy built generator. It will not start their is no spark at sparkplug

hey mark, be sure the kill switch is in the on or run position. not being smart but it has happened. check to be sure there is oil in it. if it is brand new it may not have any oil in it and the new ones have a oil sensor that if there is no oil in the engine it will not start. or fire. if everything is good but still no spark you can unplug the black wire from the coil and see if it fires then. if it don't then the coil itself is bad. i would take it back if it was mine. good luck.

How to check ignition coil with ohm meter

The only way I know how to test a coil is to take the small wire that hooks into the tab on the coil off and then use a spark tester, this way you isolate the problem to either the spark plug or the coil. unplugging the small wire will eliminate the coil being grounded out by the switch.

Troy bilt bronco has no fire. Installed new ignition n gas n oil

Check the spark plug first. If after replacing new plug and still no fire, check the black wire that comes from the coil to make sure it is not grounded to any metal. (best to unhook the wire from switch) If still no fire replace coil.

I have a 42 inch troy-bilt riding mower the blades won't disengage.

Sounds like either the switch for the blades is not shutting off the power to the electric clutch or the clutch itself is not disengaging. I would shut the mower off and unplug the wire to the electric clutch and then start the mower and make sure the blades do not turn you may have the belt for the blades on the wrong pulley and it might be causing the blades to turn. Hope this helps.

No ignition to spark plug

some have a low oil shut off and if the oil is a little low it will shut the spark off then remove the flywheel cover and unplug the small wire from the coil and check for spark if you then have spark it is a wiring problem if still no spark you have a bad coil

Won't start no fire

If you are not getting fire to the plug you first disconnect the kill wire then check for fire again. If you still have on fire replace the coil, if you do get fire check the switch then the wire for a short.
