How do I record myself singing

Much depends on the sort of quality you need and the duration of the performance.

Smartphones, tablets, digital memo recorders and suchlike are capable of recording but due to the size the quality isn't great and in some cases the duration they are capable of would be limited.

Whatever system you choose will provide a problem because recording the choir will be relatively easy but recording you singing with the choir will be more difficult. A microphone would need to be carefully placed on a stand close to you perhaps or you would need to hold it or you could stand apart from the choir.
The logistics will be for you to sort out with the choirmaster and the other members...

The device is another matter. The simplest would be a quality cassette type tape recorder. These have been obsolete for years but there is still quite a few around. Even better would be an old reel-to-reel tape recorder but those are now few and far between. The advantage of these are they just need loading with tape and switching on...

Some video cameras have amazing stereo sound and in particular the VHS video camera/recorder. Other cameras have sound capability and sometimes it is very good so they are another option....

Perhaps the best option for these modern times would be a half-decent laptop computer loaded with recording software. There are many programmes available and some are free and some will turn the laptop into a virtual recording studio. Goldwave is free, and very stable and reliable but it can be tricky to make it work. Add a compatible microphone and you are all set. The better the quality of microphone the better the results will be.

Happy singing!

It's Val Doonican, he's an Irish singer. I think he's still alive, but must be in his 80's now. He was very famous and popular in the UK, he had his own show. He was renowned for the patterned sweaters he wore. Great clear voice, love him.

Can anyone recommend a good recipe for an Irish coffee?

Traditional Irish coffee's are made using hot coffee, Irish whiskey and sugar topped with heavy cream; however over the years many people have made slight additions/changes to this recipe. I prefer to use brown sugar in my Irish coffee.

Here is an instructional video that will teach you how to make a perfect Irish coffee -

Cannot get videos to play. Can hear the sound but no picture

It is kind of hard to get video from a disk when there is no video on it. This selection comes up as a plain MP3 (audio only) disk. Check the wrapper for the description... but the one you mention supposedly is audio only.

It is useful as a choir microphone?

Not really. I have a set I use to record drums with. The diaphragm is too small to get a room sound. You can, however, use two of them. One on each side of the choir. Make sure you reverse the phase of one mic or they may cancel each other out. Sometimes it is better to buy a large diaphragm condensor mic. You will, however, need phantom power to run it. Makes a huge difference though.

How do you teach someone to project when they sing?

i also am not really good at this but ive been a member of our school choral since elementary, hs and college, church choir too.. we dont get lectures about singing but we were taught that for our voice to come out good we have to open our mouth wide.. like when we say "O", open our mouth wide enough to fit 3 fingers... dunno how to explai it but it works especially if you're singing without microphone, that is to exaggerate your voice.. then you have to feel of course what youre singing, facial expressions is also a way to project...

do vocalizations, exercise for singing, inhaling and exhaling..etc

then when singing, youve to know when to inhale and exhale so that you wont sound like you lack oxygen.... to not try to sing too high pitched song (if you sing like mariah well u can) if u cant, try to sing songs according to your pitch, so that you can project or sing it well without cracking, hmm like sounding flat or sharp..

good luck..

and btw, i think there are tutorials on youtube for singing lessons.

if my suggestion andonline lessons doesnt work then try to attend voice lessons with pro.. smile!
