If it is a front loading machine, the drum is held in place by a bunch of mini shock absorbers. If one of them is bad or broken it will spin unevenly. There are usually 8 shocks, 4 on the bottom (2 in front, 2 in back) and 4 on the top. The bottom can be inspected by taking the bottom face plate off (usually held on with clips) the top by taking the top of the machine off (usually held on with screws in the back of the machine).

SOURCE: My LG washing machine unevenly

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

SOURCE: My washing machine when it is spinning the tub bumps against the wall of the machine, how can I fix this problem.?

Usually when this happens the cloths are off balance or the washer may be to full, it also can do this when it is off level other then that the tub may need to be adjusted by an appliance personal. I hope you get this problem fixed.

SOURCE: My washing machine has developed quite a severe knocking sound during the spin cycle - machine is not full, isn't an uneven load. Machine is level on level floor.

some washers have a concrete counter balance that has been known to come loose that might be causing your knock

Have had washing machine almost a year, was working perfectly, now wants to bang and clang on spin cycle, machine is level, is there any internal adjustments that can be made

There is a concrete block which sits inside machine.check to see if the springs that hold it in place have not broken, check penny trap for blockages and don't overload machine.uneven spinning is usually down to machine spin at high speed when water isn't draining off clothes hence the weight is more uneven and causes the drum to hit against internal structure.

Hi, My guess is that you have an uneven load in machine. When it's time for the spin cycle to run, it will not complete that spin. You will have to open the door and rearrange the load so that it will spin.( machine will not run when door is open). good luck.

My HOTPOINT ULTIMA WASHING MACHINE wt960 is very noisy on the spin there a need for oiling or what else can I do..?

It could have an imbalnce in the drum because the load is uneven, or your machine could be uneven on the floor,, try checking for the level of your machine

Celcus washing machine makes a banging sound when starting on spin and slowing down from spin

It could be caused by loose or damaged bearings or even damaged belt. You might have to replace worn out belt and bearings. Also find out if the washer is sitting on an uneven platform. Make sure the floor is even and the machine is not tilting.

My washer wont spin

probably the uneven load sensing system must have sensed your drum wobbles too much during spin cycle and cut off spin. its a safety system to avoid damage. Or if your machine has "spin stop" selection, make sure it is turned off.

Washing machine rumbles when spinning

it needs to be leveled. most units are self leveling meaning they sit evenly. if yours in on uneven ground make sure you get it onto a flatter spot. should help.

Maytag atlantis wont spin cycle

this could be one of three things, 1. Rinse hold (an option to save the washing sitting crumpled when you are out) release the rinse hold button and it will spin.
2. You have a blocked drain or uneven load (if a washing machine spins with a full load of water in it it would dance around your kitchen and eventually break apart the weight is too much, it has to remove the water to a level within a set time or it will stop, or if its a uneven load it will attempet 3-4 times start a spin.
3. your motor brushes are worn (brushes last around 2-3 years depending on use) or board failure, first signs of this can be it will not spin, then it will not rotate at all try to spin it with no load (no washing) then add a couple of wet towels. if no spin it could be either of the two best way to check the brushes is to remove them and check the length they start around an inch long.
Always isolate the electrical supply when removing things from the machine.
