Question about Magic Chef Refrigerators
I have a Magic Chef MCWBC77DZC Dual zone wine fridge that stopped cooling. The unit is not even 2 years old. I have already tried replacing the PTC starter relay and it still does not work and has the same syptoms. When I plug the unit in, you hear a relay click and nothing happens. The overload relay is what is clicking and the overload relay gets VERY HOT after about 10 seconds, then clicks off(for overload protection I assume). The compressor never comes on. I believe something is overloading the switch causing it to shut the unit down. But not sure what it is. Only other pieces left in the circuit are the transformer, the compressor itself or the overload relay. But since the overload relay is getting very hot very fast when I plug the unit in, I am assuming something else is overloading it. **UPDATE**1/2/17 I have replaced the start relay, the overload switch and also the capacitor. I still have the same problems. I plug the fridge in, within 10 seconds, the overload switch clicks OFF and gets extremely hot! I am assuming the compressor has crapped out.

compressor is broken if you are under warranty you can get it replaced. if not you should buy another one cause compressors are expensive to replace. costs about the price of a new refrigerator. you can try getting a used one from classifieds or craigslist.com

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
