Did you check to see if power is reaching the elements? Is power flowing thru the thermostat? Check heater circuit breaker?

SOURCE: hot water heater

1) Check across top two screws on upper element for 240volts.
Circuit breaker can be tripped on one leg so water heater appears to have power, but only has 120Volts to ground, and not full 240Volt potential across both wires.

2) Move wires to another same-size circuit breaker

I changed the heating element and still no hot water on electric water heater.

The element is not receiving power. Check the power source to the hot water heater and the element and thermostat operation.

Lost all hot water, then replaced both elements but still no hot water.

I would have checked the reset button before you changed the elements. Yes, press the reset button, you should hear it click. Give it some time to heat up. Don't throw away your old elements, they may still be good. Save them for future replacements.

Why does the water temp delivered from two Visu-temp valves in back to back bathrooms turn lukewarm after about 4 minutes.

personally I would change the temp setting to hotter water .isn't that why we have a cold water valve also to mix you will use less hot in the long run

Running out of hot water after 10-15 minutes. already changed the bottom element and theromstat and still missing hot hot??

Is the upper element working?
The cold water comes in at the top inlet and there is a tube inside the water heater which takes the water to the bottom. If this tube breaks off the cold water will mix with the hot water on the top and you'll have less hot water. You can take it out and inspect or replace it.

New Rheem electric 50 gallon not heating

Check the elements, if you have access to a meter to check them. If they are getting power to elements and you have no hot water.
The elements are not working correctly. I had some elements check out ok till the thermostat's turned on and the elements didn't heat.
Sounds like the elements are bad.

Hot water wont get hot

1-First check for power to water heater and remove acces panels on heater to check power at thermostats. Thermostats have a reset button on them that trip and can be pressed to reset.

2- If none of the above have changed any thing and you have power you may have elements gone bad.

If an element is gone at top you will get scalding hot water then go to cold.

If an element on the bottom is gone you will get luke warm water then will get cold.

No hot water, control board light stays green

It may be bad thermostat terminals of the water heater, or, alternatively, the very top heating element is in need of replacement. See this handy diagnostic article for more info:

Hope this helps.

Hot water lasts half the time

How old is the heater?

It may be something as simple as just needing to flush the tank to remove any sedemints....and hopefully so because this is the easiest/cheapest thing to do.

If this is not the case go ahead and remove the heating elements and check for wear. Replace them if necessary. I would also replace the thermostats that accompany each of the elements.

Checking and replacing both of this requires you to drain the tank completely and should be close to $25 total....last time I checked.
