Question about Hardware & Accessories

1 Answer

I have a H2160MW9A and am recording 1/2 hour segments. When I dub from HDD to DVD I am unable to finalize. I get an error E19 and says disk full. I can still record more 1/2 hour segments to the DVD.

I have done this in the past, but it has always been movies and I have been able to finalize them. These 1/2 hour segments are art lessons on public tv. I just am very confused. Am I overlooking something obvious?

You finalize the disk AFTER you have finished all the recordings on it. Finalizing makes the disk more acceptable (readable) to other players and closes out the disk.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help, however I know what finalize does, it's just that once I record to DVD the unit will not allow finalize. It gives an error E19 and says disk full. My point was that even though the unit says disk full, I can still record to the DVD"

Out curiosity, does it do that with all media? All disks are not created equal and these units can sometimes be fussy about what they work with properly. Could also be a software issue with your unit - can firmware be reloaded?

Thanks for the response. I have two different type DVD's. One is HP DVD+R, the other is Memorex -R. Both react the same. Also, what I did not mention is that I have (2) H2160MW9A's Identical units and both will not Finalize these DVD's, otherwise work fine. I believe that somehow I am the problem, because I have copied movies before and never had a problem finalizing DVD's, but I cannot finalize these. Disc's are new out of the carton and I have copied movies to some of these same DVD's. Never had a problem before. HELP! Please!

I am wondering if the broadcast medium is and issue. I am copying art lessons from Public TV and I have never done that before. I can copy to HDD then dub to DVD. Once on DVD I can replay on my unit, but simply cannot finalize to play on other units, and they won't play on any other device. Also, I have never reloaded firmware. Not sure how I would go about doing that.

If you think that you are the problem you might have one of your computer savy amigos follow the instructions on doing the deed. It is not likely that two units will suffer from the same anomaly so there could be some truth to what you are saying. The broadcast is not the issue. The fact that you are able to record the signal and play it back tells you that; encryption would not allow you to make the recording in the first place.

What does error code e22 mean

e22--will not finalize DVD-R disk (due to dirty lens, I think)
*unplug unit and replug after 20 minutes
*restore settings if needed, and reset clock
*insert & run/play a DVD lens cleaner disk
*dub video from the HD to a NEW BLANK DVD
*finalize after dubbing is finished
THIS WORKED ON MY MAGNAVOX MDR 533H/F7

PS: make sure that the new blank DVD disk is from the same pile of disks that you were able to finalize before.

Magnavox H2160MW9A gets E19 and E21 messages burning DVDs

If you have a timer recording scheduled, the "A" version has a software problem when trying to finalize disks. I would return the unit if it is under warranty, especially if it is under warranty.
If it is not, you have several options. Open the unit and make sure that the ribbon connectors are seated firmly. Purchase a replacement DVD writer from Magnavox and install it yourself for about $70. Return it to Magnavox for repair. Get it repaired locally.
I have had excellent luck with the Sony DVD+RW disks that are made in Taiwan. You might want to check the package and determine if they are from Taiwan or elsewhere. If you have a PC that has a DVD writer, check the problem DVD's in the PC.
I think it is your Magnavox, sorry to say.

Cannot start dubbing

I'd guess you are using cable TV-some cable companies put their own copyguard on the cable signal, Comcast, in my area does this. The DVD sees the 'do not copy signal' and won't do it.
Try recording directly to DVD without using the HDD drive. If you get a playable disk, I doubt it is your machine. If you don't get a playable disk, that plays in THAT machine-it is the machine..

LG RH265 - Problem when trying to register blank disk/dubbing

The DVD needs to initialise the disk first. Come out of the HDD dubbing menu and press DVD on the remote. The blank recordable disk should be recognised and you should see Initialise disk? on the screen. Press Start and hey presto, you can now dub from the HDD Movie dubbing menu (as per the manual instructions).
