what is the model number of the engine and size of the engine? turn engine over to top dead center loosen the nut that hold the rocker on turn the star head until it gets the gap you want tighten the lock nut and re gap to be sure it is correct. i think it is going to be .004 on both intake and exhaust but check with a parts store to be sure.you will need you model number off of the engine.

Hot battery,will not turn engine every time,keep bumping key and will start turning engine seems like trying to start with too much compresion


If your unit has OHV engine you need to check the intake and exhaust valve gap. Call your local repair shop to get numbers and check this website out. Go to smalleng.com they have a video for just what you are looking for. Good Luck...

Engine only cranks until it comes up on compression, then stops


I would be checking the valve clearences if its ohv they should be set at 4 thou, If it is side valve they should be set at 6 thou intake and 8 thou exhaust.

VALVE ADJUSTMENT
