Its hard to say what went wrong.....after 3 years it would be better to just replace it, as technology from HP has advanced so much that a new printer at 69.99 with instant ink (hp's ink delivery system) would make you forget your past troubles. affordable and reliable. I hate to say this but printers have reached a point where any machine you buy for under $70 will likely last 1-3 years and if your extra careful and loving, 4 years tops....they call this "throw away" technology! sad but its the nature of the technology beast.

Is it getting power? Is the cord ok? Is the adapter that came with printer ok?

If power is definitely reaching the printer and it is dead then you have to consider a replacement since repair is not cost effective. And if you have spare ink for unit you might just want to consider replacing it with identical unit since HP screws you with printer cartridges and respective cost.

I have a HP Photosmart B8350. I haven't used it for about a few months. The green indicator light on the power module is on but the printer will not power up. Don't know what to do.

So the printer has no indicator lights on at the printer? If so have you verified the power supply is working and is supplying power to the printer. You need to check the voltage output with a DC volt meter.

Check eBay for replacement parts. Voltage, power capacity and the connector can all vary but you can probably find a replacement part. If not, the things are so cheap these days.

I knew a consultant who did training. In every city he would buy a new inkjet at the start of his courses. At the end of his courses he would leave the printer in the room as a tip for the hotel staff.

My printer will not turn on

First, try pressing and quickly releasing the Power button to start a Power On/Off cycle. Do not hold down the button. If this resolves the problem your done; if not continue on.

Inspect the power cord for visible damage; if damaged will need to contact HP to replace.

Disconnect the power supply (power module and cord) from the power source (wall socket) and the printer.

Test the power source, wall socket with or without your power bar or surge protector in place, with a small appliance you know works to confirm you have power. You may want to test the wall socket first and then test the power bar, etc. to make sure each component is not the problem.

If the appliance works then need to investigate the power supply. If the small appliance does not work you may need to check your electrical panel for a tripped breaker and possibly consult an electrician to check your electrical wiring.

To test the power supply plug in to the working power source; if the green light on the power supply does not light up you will need to contact HP to replace the power supply.

If the green light on the power supply lights up; reconnect to the printer.

Press and quickly release the Power button to turn the printer on. if the printer does not turn on you will need to check the USB cable.

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer; if the printer turns on you will need to replace the USB cable.

If printer does not turn on, check the battery if your printer has one. A red light means the battery requires recharging; if it is still red after recharging, replace the battery.

If none of these steps resolve your issue before replacing the power supply try plugging the power supply directly in to a different working wall socket with no power bar or surge suppressor.; Press the power button.

If still no power to the printer you need to replace the power supply.

NETWORK PRINTER WON'T PRINT SINCE WE HAD A POWER FAILURE TWO DAYS AGO.

Check the jetdirect for a green connectivity light. If it's there, carry out a cold reset on the printer. Power it off and hold down the green button, power it on,keep holding down the green button until all three lights come on then release the button. it should read Cold Reset on the front panel. Once it goes ready, you will need to go back in to the menu system and setup the Jetdirect card again with it's IP address etc.

Where can I buy a new power cord and adapter for this printer?

Try the following link: http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.asp?mscssid=3E1E07E2528A4EEA9925EC73FDB83FC8
If that doesn't work, try the following and enter "Officejet 4315" in the product name:
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/?cc=US&lang=EN&jumpid=hpr_R1002_USEN
Select the model number from the back of your printer and then choose the option for Power Supplies.
I believe the parts you need are the following two: 0957-2119 8121-1023
Those may be entered as links that you can click on directly.
Hope that helps.

Printer will not turn on

The all-in-one product will not turn on If the all-in-one will not turn on at all, follow the steps below in order to determine the cause:
  1. Verify that there is power at the wall outlet.
  2. Verify that the computer and the all-in-one product have a three-prong power plug.
  3. Remove the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
  4. For models that have an external power supply module, verify that the power supply module is plugged in correctly. Some power supply modules have a green LED built into the connector end or on the power supply module. This LED will be lit if power is present. If the LED is not lit, replace the power supply module.
  5. Plug the power cord into a different electrical outlet.
  6. If the all-in-one has an ADF with an external cable plugging into the back of the product:
    1. Turn off the unit.
    2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
    3. Unplug the ADF cable from the back of the product.
    4. Plug the ADF cable to the back of the product.
    5. Plug in the power cable to the wall outlet, and turn on the power.
      • If no change, the problem is not the ADF.
      • If the problem clears, turn off the all-in-one, unplug the power cable, and plug in the ADF.
      • If the error returns, the ADF is defective. Contact HP Customer Care to get the ADF replaced.
  7. Unplug the USB or parallel communication cable from the back of the all-in-one and try to power up the all-in-one. The computer may be grounding out through the communications cable. If this corrects the issue, check the grounding of the computer and outlet. If the above steps did not resolve your issue, contact HP for additional issue verification or the servicing of your product.

Printer won't power up

Yup that's the thing to do eventually. Is this a model with built in power supply or does it have a 'PowerBrick' to plug into? Fool around with this area some before finally sending it back- connections firmly in place etc.
