next you are asking for a radius but include a height measurement.

an acre is a surface measurement but as soon as you give a 3rd dimension ( your height) it becomes a volume measurement or cubic ft/ yards or gallons

so post it all again and explain the end result that you want people to answer

Stone is approximated at about 2700 lbs. per cu. yd.

An acre is 43560 sq. ft.

8.5 acres is 370260 sq. ft.

There 9 sq.ft. per sq. yd., thus there are 41140 sq. yds. in 8.5 acres.

A cubic yard is 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet (LxWxH).

Since you are only going to be at 1.5 feet, each square yard is equal to 1/2 cubic yard, so to figure the cubic yards divide sq.yds. by 2, thus you get 20570 cu. yds. of stone.

20570 x 2700 = 55539000 pounds. Divide by 2000 to get tons:

55539000/2000 = 27769.5 tons.

An acre is an old timers measurement used in agriculture...

it was 4 poles wide and 40 poles long. A pole is equivalent to sixteen and a half feet. So back then, an acre was a piece of farming land 660 feet long (220 yards or one eighth of a mile) and 66 feet wide (22 yards or one eightieth of a mile).

Acre is a measure of area, which would be square feet.

Feet are a measure of distance.

The best you could do is something like this:

An acre is 43, 560 square feet.

Draw/imagine a square or a rectangle that would cover that much area.

If it is a square, it would be (approximately) 208.7 feet on each side.

Its perimeter (the distance around it if you walk an imaginary fence around you acre-sized plot) would be 834.8 feet.

Trying to to figure out an acre of 'Circle' - hmmmmm???

I am assuming you are talking about fencing in 3 sides of an area with each side being 25 feet long. Linear feet refers to only the running length of the fence. It doesn't care about height. For example, you fence will be 75 linear feet long...three sides each 25 feet. The price per linear foot already takes into account the fence height. For example, you say that the fence you want is about $15.00 per linear foot. For the sake of argument, say your fence is 4 feet high. If you were to change to a 3 foot high fence, the cost per linear foot would be less since there is less fencing material. If you wanted to up the height to 6 feet, the price would rise accordingly.

Normally, there is no conversion needed between linear feet and regular feet. Linear feet is just simply stating "1100 feet in a straight line". Etrix_new is exactly right, we would need to see if the fence would be laid in a straight line, or if there would be turns and different heights. It sounds like a good summer project. That yard might take some work. The first thing you will want to do is clear out the wildlife (including neighbors) and rebuild the fence. I suggest digging a trench and have the fence go a foot or two into the ground to prevent the animals from coming back underground. After that, the bushes will need to pulled out and grass can be planted. I wish you luck!
