Dryer is heating up

With no idea as to what type or model number of the dryer best i can do is give you a hint. Switch in the dryer that turns on the heating element is most likely gone. Unless you know something about dryers or are comfortable taking things apart and just winging it, pay the repair man. Be advised that they usually don't have the part with thewm and it will be "NEXT WEEK" before it comes in.

My frigidaire gallery model fsg748gfs gas dryer starts to heat up but stops after a few minutes?

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Dryer runs but wont heat

There are 2 possibilities for this problem.
1. The limit switch is out. The limit switch is located on the heating element on the back of the dryer. This is a small button type part. it will have 2 prongs on it for 2 wires that slide on for power.
2. The heating element is out. This will be on the back of the dryer and depending the model it should be a long metal piece that has metal elements inside of it to heat the dryer. or it could be a large round unit. these can be tested with an om meter.

The limit switch will be the cheapest to start with on replacing.
If you need further assistance please do not hesitate to ask. I will need the make, model, and the serial number of the unit to help you further. the model and serial number can be found by opening the dryer door and looking by the hings. there should be a sticker with this information on it.

When I start my dryer, I have heat at first, but it shuts off after a short time for the rest if the cycle.

It sounds like you have a gas dryer . The coils on the burner valve need to be replaced . They get hot from the electricity going thru them , and one opens (shorts ) until the dryer cools down . It should then heat again for a few minuted , then stop heating but still run . Your timer will not advance either , if set on auto , unless dryer heats . Without the model number , cannot give you the part number , so take it with you to get the part . It comes with both coils in a pkg .

Not getting any heat @ all in dryer.

Folks,
You aren't giving me much to work with to help you. If possible, can you provide the Brand and Model number of your dryers so that I can assist? I can't tell from your post if they are gas or electric and that would dictate the repair tactic for them.. Please provide those kinds of details.
Regards,
Rick

Dryer wont start

If the dryer does not turn on at ALL (meaning the drum does not spin and it does not heat), the main culprit is the thermal fuse (also known as a thermister on some models). The thermal fuse acts as the name implies. It is a fuse. If it blows, it must be replaced. Now...with this said, this is not the ONLY thing that can cause your symptoms. However, it is the MOST common problem and the best place to start. If the thermal fuse blew, it is generally for a reason. More commonly the problem is caused by poor dryer ventilation, or something coming in contact with the terminals (such as coins). The following link will give you some good sound advice on how to troubleshoot the most common dryer problems:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385301-thorough_dryer_advice

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have questions. Please post back with your COMPLETE model number (located around the door opening, or along the back of the operator console) if you require further assistance. This will give me an idea of how your dryer is constructed. I hope this helps.
