A garment containing rubber may have been overheated. Sometimes it leaves melted residue in the drum.

Electric lift stopped 2/3 way up. There was also a burning smell. Won't work at all. Is there a manual overide?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

There is no manual override on your dryer. Which is a good thing.

You do not want to run your dryer at this point.

The burning smell is burning lint. Your dryer is plugged up with lint. This is a dangerous situation. You could burn down your home.

Your dryer will not run because the dryer fan will shut down if the air flow is obstructed.

You have a hot air exhaust manifold where the hot air goes into a round bottom inlet up to a expanded hot air distribution headed into the dryer. This is usually plugged up.

This may also have caused the fuse to blow, a operating switch or high temperature limit switch to fail.

Go into the following website and put in your model number. You will get diagrams and component part numbers. Your model number is located on a label either on the face of the dryer when you open the door or on the side of the door.

Car heater blowing cold air and rubber burnning

If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine

Once dryer heats up towards end of cycle, drum quits spinning and won't restart, only hums

It could be a couple of things there could be lint on the motor shaft which will cause the motor to run hot and make to over temperature switch open or the hot air output on the back of the dryer may be plugged, just before or around the blower. Good luck

Notice a "rubber"smell this winter. The lint vent is clean after each use, outside vent is clear of any debris. can the wind blow smell back into house or is it a belt? Installed new by dealer 1/9/13.

I have found that when people start smelling things in the dryer it's from chemicals from like paint or varnish, all the dryer does is move air when it gets hot you start smelling it.you can pull it apart and check the belt and rollers but your dryer has the lint filter on top and there isn't anything in there that could really make it smell,on some of these dryers the belt pulley doesn't have a wheel on it,the pulley is just a piece of metal with no moving parts and the belt rubs on the pulley but i've never smelt anything from that, like i say usually it's from having your floors done over the smell from the polyurethane coating or from paint can make the dryer smell.go here to take dryer apart

GTDX100EM1WW GE Electric Dryer smells hot and electric cord is very hot Problem not present on air dry. Vent is connected and air blows through. Cord is quite hot to touch at the outlet.

Usually the motor, if you're not experienced, better to have a service person come out. Almost always the motor in the dryer that causes this

Loud noices when running, some burned rubber smell

The only rubber part is the belt that drives the drum around. The belt rides on a tensioner which has a pulley on it with a bearing built into it. When the bearing goes bad the pulley will not turn freely causing the belt to get hot and smell. Its time for a new pully and bearing assembly for your dryer

Sounds like drive belt or drum supports, if the drier is gas I would check it out, could cause a fire, if it is electric still check to make sure it is not rubbing on the electric heat element, or it could be full of lint which is catching fire during normal operation and melting or burning the belt or drum supports.
