My DysonDC44Animal stops and won't start again until I charge it for a while. Is this normal?? Can you only run it continuously for a short time?

Replace the switch! It shut down when battery get depleted. and then when you start it again the cycle is shorter because the batery regenerate but not as previous cycle.

Room a 620 keeps stopping

It could be clogged with hair (when was the last time you cleaned it out?), it could be the battery isn't holding a charge any longer. It could be getting caught on something . How long is it running before stopping? I found I used to get about a two hour run from my Roomba, before the red light flashed. Then I started to unplug the charger and Roomba when it had a full charge and it wasn't needed. I noticed that after this the Roomba didn't run as long, maybe one hour, before needing a charge again. I leave it plugged in all the time now.

My dc04 motor stopped in mid use and wont start up again has motor gone?

Hi Steve,

Your DC04 is equipped with a safety device which shuts down the machine if it starts to overheat. This can be due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. You should find the machine will restart after cooling down for about an hour, but to ensure this doesn't happen again, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide to locate and remove any blockages from the cleaner:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=89&product=DC04-SY-STD-BC

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if the machine won't restart, or if it continues to cut out in use, please get in touch with us directly so we can help. You can call free on 0800 298 0298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Kind regards,

Jack

My dyson handheld charges fully, but keeps cutting out when using. About 7 seconds is the longest continual usage time

Your battery is losing voltage too quick. It has probably developed a 'memory'. Dyson claims that their handheld has the best suction out of all the handhelds out there. In order to maintain that claim the circuit board will shut off power to the motor when the voltage drops below adequate charge for full suction.
We need someone who can teach us to bypass that part of the circuit so it won't cut power to the motor or you need to replace the battery.
Shorting the battery like an Aircraft battery then re-charging won't fix it.

Fully charged, filters cleaned, vacuum keeps shutting down in and then starts again only to shut off again. the 6 minute time limit is not used up.

I have a Nutone central vacuum model number CV450W that was working great until I recently removed the hose and it now runs continuously until I pull the plug....any suggestions please

Disconnect the thin low voltage wiring between the vac and the rest of the house. If the vac continues to run you have a defective relay in the vac motor housing.
If the vac stops you have a short in the wiring in the house, likely behind an inlet in the wall.
If any inlets have been disturbed for painting or renos lately that would be the first spot to look in the house for a problem. Look for wires behind the inlet valve which are touching against each other or a mounting screw or against a metal mounting plate behind the inlet. Start at the last inlet used. Be careful not to loose the spring under the screws where the wiring attaches to the inlets

Turning itself off

With newer models will not work things that you attach to the vacuum such as the hose and the carpet shampoo attachment. Loose attachments will work just fine. It is same diameter holes that are being used in later models.

Switch - there is not much you can do without getting inside of the vacuum. You have to access inside and get it fixed.

Irobot Roomba will not turn off

I think both of you who responded are tools.

The issue is on the main board. What JBugs is saying is the brushes continue to run even if the unit is manually turned off.

There is no fix other than to replace the main board. There is a circuit which drives the brushes. If the circuit electronically gets stuck in a closed position, then the brushes will run until out of power.

There is a way to install a switch in the brush circuits but then you must manually turn the brushes on each time you want to clean.

Best bet is to call iRobot, complain and buy one of the out of warranty replacements for $99. This replacement will allow you to schedule the unit to wake up and will perform exactly like the Scheduler.
