Failure in the high voltage circuit near the 120 volt plug. Check the voltage on the capacitor (some TVs have two or more capacitors) rated at 100 uf at 450 volts. The high voltage circuit needs at least 400 volts and the capacitor helps to maintain the high voltage. If the voltage fall too low, TV shutdown, inferRed drops, etc. Try a higher capacitor, ie 300 uf at 400 volts to 450 volts.

Check the idle-stop screw. They tend to back out, causing the generator to slow down and not maintain regulation

2005 Honda NF 100 Wave not charging


Hi, Wilson before testing any electrical component in the Charging System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. To check the regulator unplug it from the stator. Take a test light and clip it to the negative terminal of the battery and then touch first one pin and then the other on the plug that goes to the regulator. If you get even the slightest amount of light from the test light the regulator is toast.
To do this with a meter: black lead to battery ground, red lead to each pin on the plug, start with the voltage scale higher than 12vdc and move voltage scale down in steps for each pin. Any voltage is a bad regulator.
2. On the other part of the disconnected regulator plug. Set the multimeter for Ohms x1 scale and measure for resistance across the pins of the stator. You should read something around 0.1 to 0.2 ohms for a 32 amp system.
3. Then check for continuity between each pin on the plug and frame/engine ground. The meter needle should not move (infinite resistance)(digitals will show infinite resistance) if the meter needle does move (indicating continuity)(digitals will show some resistance), recheck very carefully. If the meter still shows continuity to ground the stator is shorted (bad).
4. Set the meter to read A/C volts higher than 30 volts (the scale setting for voltage should always be higher than the highest voltage you expect or you may fry the meter). Start the bike, and measure from one pin to the other on the plug (DO NOT cross the multimeter probes! - touch them to each other). You should read roughly 16-20 vac per 1,000 rpm.
5. If the battery was good under load test, if the stator is NOT shorted to ground, and the stator is putting out A/C voltage, then the regulator is bad (most likely even if passed step 2)

Motherboard, the inverter output voltage


Inverter output can vary, but anything greater than 150 volts with a high impedance meter (with a capacity of 2000 volts) can be considered good. The meter loads the circuit by itself and normally the RMS voltage that most meters register is lower than the peak to peak voltage of the circuit. If a scope is used, use a 10:1 reduction probe, and your voltages can be anywhere from 300 volts to 1200 volts with 650 to 750 being the normally accepted good range. Where your brightness control is set will have direct impact on the voltage you see.

Do you own a volt meter?

Get a voltage reading from the battery while the bike is off (the resting voltage). A short cell should prevent you from ever reading anything more then 10.5 volts. If the battery is 12.2 volts or less, it's discharged. Fully charged is 12.8 volts.

Next, start the bike (or jump start it if the battery is down) and take a voltage reading while the bike is on. The Voltage should go as high as 14.8 volts. That's normal. If the battery is down, it will have to climb up to that point.

Engine light and battery light comes on about every other time i start it and te battery is not charging all the time


To check the charging system, first make sure you have a fully charged battery in the bike. You'll need a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter). Set the meter's function selector switch to DC VOLTS, 50 volt range. Connect the red meter lead to the positive battery post and the black meter lead to the negative post. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. After a minute or so, your meter should read between 14.5 and 15.0 volts. If not, proceed to check the output voltage of the alternator.

Follow the two black wires from the voltage regulator down to the connection on the front of the engine. Unplug the connection and look down inside the engine side of the connector. You'll see two metal contacts. Make sure they are clean. This is where you're going to put your meter leads to read the output of the alternator. Since it is an AC voltage, it makes no difference which meter lead goes to which contact as long as they don't touch each other or the engine case. Put your meter's function switch to AC VOLTS, 50 volts or greater range. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. Touch a meter lead to each of the metal contacts. You should read at least 30 Volts AC. If not, your alternator stator is likely bad. If you do read the 30 volts or more at the alternator but not the 14.5 to 15.0 volts at the battery, your voltage regulator is likely the problem. Make sure your voltage regulator has a good ground against the frame.

How to check charging system on 2004 road king


To check the charging system on your RK, first you need a fully charged battery and a DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter). To check the entire system, connect the red meter lead to the postitive battery post and the black meter lead to the negative post. Put the meter's function selector switch in DC VOLTS, 50 VOLTS OR GREATER. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. The meter should read between 14.5 and 15.0 volts. It may take a minute for it to max out depending on how "hot" your battery is.

To check the alternator output, follow the wires from your voltage regulator to where they plug into the engine case. Unplug the plug and look inside the engine case side. You'll see two metal pins or sockets down in the plug. These are what we are going to check the voltage on. Since the voltage is AC, there is no need to worry about which meter lead goes on which pin. Put the meter's function selector switch in AC VOLTS, 50 VOLTS OR GREATER. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. Touch one of the meter leads to each pin down inside the plug. Do not let the meter leads touch the case or each other. Your meter should read at least 30 volts.

If you alternator is putting out at least 30 volts, it's good. If it's putting out at least 30 volts and your voltage at the battery is below 12.5 volts, the regulator is bad.

Vivitar 283 with new Nikon Digital camera


the nikon D80 has a 250 volts safe range and i have the same issue but readin on the internet i learned that yo can now the voltage of your flash with a voltage metter ond the hot soe.

Vivitar 283 has diferent ranges of voltages depending on the year of fabrication so older ones can achieve 300 volts and earlier have 230 volts so the best is to get a vivitar 285hv for about 75dollars or a safe sync for about 55dollars, you can find all on ebay or other brouser the safe sync converts up to 400 volts to a safe 6 volts that are yust the normal voltage for digital flashes.
