You should hire a roofing service to get it installed.
It'll not cost you much. Just make sure the material you bought for roofing should be good.
Go for metal roofing. It'll provide you more advantages than any other type of roofing.

There are now many types on the market

I'd advise you to go to a building information centre where several vendors usually have displays and brochures, on installation systems. You may also want to go to a public library and look up building standards applicable in your area.

Need class a chimney flashing for penetration through standing seam metal (steel) roof. What flashing is best to avoid corrosion problems due to disimiar metals in contact? Also, how is the flashing...

Hello Stephen.
I do understand what you are talking about with your flashing. Your supplier of the standing seam metal should have similar metal flashing to use on any of your roof flashing points. There is a process to install flashing on a chimney or any other protrusions, If you are still interested post some pictures of what you have and I will explain the best I can. It takes years of experience to do some flashings especially on standing seam metal.

What is the advantage of cedar shakes over metal roofing?

I cannot see any advantage at all. Timber dries out and cracks . Timber is very prone to ignition from fires and cinders when dry. nails rust and glues fail with time. metal lasts for a life time and comes in a variety of colours. doesn't burn and will resist higher wind speeds .

copper is a good metal for flashing because it is strong, malleable, and durable, but really any flat sheet of metal will do the trick

Why are roof tiles, under TV aerials, discoloured on most roofs?

Most of the discolouration I see has got nothing to do with the metal, which is usually a fairly inert aluminium covered in aluminium oxide. What does seem to happen quite a lot is birds sit on the aerials and just do what comes naturally - leaving behind a bit of a stain. I spent a few years at sea and saw an albatross roost on a rotating radar aerial overnight. The next morning the deck underneath was a mess of semi-digested fish, a huge amount for just one bird! Here you will get more information about aerials.

I have a 3 ft stainless double wall chimney that is going thru a ceiling/roof in my garage. there were no instructions on installation. how is this secured? Pls thx Jer

You can use metal strapping with short self-tapping sheet metal screws also where it penetrates roof a metal collar on inside should be used and a roof collar approved for B-wall vent pipe to keep water from leaking inside on outside on the roof. You can penetrate outside of B-wall vent pipe with short screws to secure the pipe just don't penetrate both pipes.this outside pipe is just a insulator to keep heat from transferring through pipe.

No pre-existing hole to install a/c unit in rv

A roof top a/c will add about 90 to 100 pounds of weight on the roof. First check w/ the manufacturer to see if it will support the weight. If it will, you will need to cut and frame out a 14" X 14" square hole for most r/v air conditioners check the specs on the air conditioner that you will install. This can be done with a jigsaw (sabre saw). Be sure that you are not cutting into any existing wiring. Once the hole is rough cut, follow the installation instructions for the unit. You will have to have 120 volt ac run to the opening and on some models will also need 12 volt dc
