You have to click on menu button on the remote control and toggle through until you see the cc caption line, to where you should be able to switch it off.

I have a Emerson (LC3203MC) "32 flat screen tv and on certain channels the closed caption in on, even with the captiions off, it still come up. How do I get rid of this?

If you have this TV connected to a cable box or satellite receiver, the captions may be coming from there. Some of these devices support captioning on their own, separate from the TV. Check the device setup to be sure captions are turned off.

Make sure closed captioning is turned off on the TV as well as your cable box or satellite receiver (if you are using them and they have that feature). Captioning is probably on and set for text mode.

Black box on screen

you have a closed caption type tv. Search your tv menu (maybe via the remote control) and look for an entry called closed caption, I'm guessing it is set to TEXT. either set it to OFF, or set it to ON if you want to.

Toshiba TV MV13P2

All I can say is that the black box appears when the closed captions are on and set to TEXT. This is normal. Turning off the closed captions should make the black box go away. If the closed captions are somehow turning themselves back on, there may be an issue with the microprocessor in your TV.
