LED display on Jenn Air won't stay on

1 yr old Jenn Air smooth top electric stove/oven. LED display of clock, timer, temp etc goes dark after about 15 seconds. Hit any button and light reappears and is accurate (still keeps time and timer still works). I have gone through the settings to make sure it is set for on. JennAir didn't offer any help and told me I had to call a repair person. Any ideas?

For some reason I get the same error code every time we have a power outage. If you push and hold the "lower off" button for about ten or 15 seconds it will unlock and reset. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: New oven won't work and can't set time, display keeps blinking

Hey--  You've spent a bunch of time on this already, so let's figure it out. The first step is to check power connections. L1, L2 , Neutral for proper location and tight connections. Should have 120v and 220v checked at bus block. If these check out, then this new unit should be under warranty and qualify for service. Not unheard of bad board or loose wire on a new unit. Let a tech sort it out on site. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed-  Thanks-  Ed

Testimonial: "I suspect a bad card, as I have 120v on each line black & red to white, (I am connected to aluminum wiring using anti-oxidizant grease)"

Having taken the oven out to fix a problem with the hob (720EF double oven and grill), reinstalled the oven and powered –up, the clock won’t come on and stay on, the oven and hob appear to work! Any...

Both the top and bottom oven will only work if a time (any time) has been set on the clock. Setting the time operates a contact to switch the power through. The only exception is the grill. This will work even if the time has not been set. So if the oven controls/lights and heating work, to me it means that the clock/timer is half working and the only thing that isn't is the display.
I haven't had the clock/timer to bits but a fellow blogger has said that in some timers there is an electrolytic capacitor that controls the display. When this fails as they are renowned for doing, the dispaly mal functions. If there is one then Maplin have some - VHR41W/43W and DT64U depending on value etc. Let us know how you get on.
If you need a new clock/timer they are around £80 from espares.

Jenn-Air oven display blank. Only works when oven has heated up.

I had the same problem and just fixed it myself today. Not sure if your timer board is the same but I replaced capacitor C3 35volt 68uf. I also have the dark spot on the clock glass in the corner but it still works. I purchased the cap from digikey.com P10292-ND. I also replaced the cap next to it 35volt 470uf P10301-ND not sure if that was necessary but it smelled a little burnt. The display is normal brighness again - total cost 1/2 hour of my time and $4 parts and shipping. Digi-Key is great I ordered the parts on Thursday 7/23 and got it today 7/25.

Clock readability

The problem is very likely a bad capacitor on the clock module. See this link for more info:
