Where is bios reset

The above applies mainly to desktop machines...were you inquiring about a laptop? It will have a clock battery as well, but the "yank the battery" trick won't work on mobile hardware. It is still possible to do, just might want an experienced hand to assist, as it involves cracking into the laptop. Most laptop pc's have two tiny metal contacts on the board, usually situated near the RAM expansion slot. A flathead (non magnetic, of course) screwdriver is is usually sufficient to bridge the gap between the two metal points, effictively "shorting" BIOS's connection to the power source. That will cause the BIOS to reset back to factory defaults, restoring default or "failsafe" settings. On many machines this is the only way to remove a startup or BIOS administrative password. PLEASE SEEK ASSISTANCE with this, as it is incredibly easy to seriously damage your hardware while trying to crack into the case. You can, if needed find disassembly instructions for your make/model on the OEM manufacturer's support page... which should help if you absolutely have to do this yourself.
Good luck!

Dell Axim X50 PDA won't turn on

try a hard reset

Dell Axim x50 / x50v / x51 / x51v:

Make sure the device is on before performing hard reset. To hard reset, press and hold the power button and press in on the reset button (reset hole) on the back of the unit for about 2-3 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. To do so press the Contacts button. To cancel press the Mail button.

IT may be that the mainboard is faulty and would need to be replaced.

JVC GR-DX67EX Digital Video Camera - Safe Mode Fault

Hi,

Might it be that your problem is caused by weak battery or the battery contacts in need of cleaning? In certain instances, it may be necessary to lightly scrape the battery contacts so as to remove corrosion. In some versions/models, the battery contacts could be slightly bent in order to provide a more tighter contact with the battery when inserted. Please give the cleaning, bending a try.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Is there a reset button somewhere on this cams

For some models of cameras and devices, remove the battery power. While holding down the power ON button re-insert the battery. Hold the power on button for at least 10 seconds then release. Beyond this, you should ask the manufacture tech support.

My Garmin Nuvi 760 screen goes black after 8-9 seconds. I have replaced the fuse in the charge cord. Someone recommended that I remove the battery and turn the power button on for ten seconds to reset the...

Do not open the nuvi, the garmin site recommends the following method instead:

  1. Make sure you are sliding the power button all the way to the left.
    • If the unit does not respond, it may be that the battery is not charged.
  2. Connect the nuvi to a power source such as the USB cable and your computer.
  3. Reset the device, if the problem persists, by sliding the power button to the left and holding it in that position for 10 seconds
    • This resets the unit and prompts it to power on
If this fails to solve the problem, contact "SUPPORT" at www.garmin.com.

Please rate this reply if helpful - good luck.

My sansa suddenly turned off while I was listening and it won't take a charge or turn on

Hi

Try this: Slide the Power Button up and hold it there for approximately 15 seconds. This is the standard reset for your player.

If this fails then there is a serious component failure or bad contact somewhere. The battery is preinstalled in this unit and cannot be changed or easily inspected. In this case you will need to return it for repair.

If the unit is still under warranty this is the best course of action open to you if the reset does not work.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

My M573 doesn't turn on. is there a reset button

Here are the steps: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a No power repair or a new cable. Your accesories are covered by the same warranty as the camera. Seems like batteries don't work, but . . .

I think the problem was either dirty battery contacts or a broken connection somewhere with the battery terminals. I'd cleaned the contacts a number of times with a pencil eraser before, but nothing worked. This time, I just did it again and paid careful attention that both contacts on the battery door were protruding properly--could be that one of the contacts got pushed back such that it wasn't making proper battery contact. All I know is that it's working now, perfectly, after sitting for a couple of years on the shelf. I really like this camera.

Whirlpool Dishwasher model gu980scgq3

Hi vicyoung0921,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: Will not start, seems to have no power at all. You checked the breaker and it's fine. Is there a reset button somewhere on this dishwasher ?

Whirlpool Dishwasher model gu980scgq3

No reset, if breaker is good then check the connection at the d/w. It's under the d/w behind the kick plate on right or center under a cover box. 9 times out of 10 you'll find a loose, broken or burnt connection there. That done, it's time to call in warranty repair. If beyond warranty you might consider utilizing the Repair Directory to find a repairman. If the d/w has a few years on it perhaps it is time to compare the cost of repair verses replacement.
