SOURCE: how can one use a

You need a phase converter. The link below is a a selection from Grizzly. You can also find them on e-bay. There are two types - static (no moving parts) and rotary (much more expensive). The rotary type give you full performance delivering true 3-phase power to your machine. But for a minor loss in power (maybe 20%) the static type does the job quite well - assuming you don't need all of the power that your 3-phase motor can deliver. Here's the link: http://www.grizzly.com/products/category.aspx?key=275030
good luck. Vote if you found this helpful. Al K

SOURCE: I HAVE A CRAFTSMAN SEARS 12 IN WOOD LATHE AND NEED A THREADED SPUR CENTER MOD# 149.23871

I just got the same lathe from my dad yesterday, without the spur center or center cup. I just found that Harbor Freight sells a Jacobs keyed chuck for $10 (part number 45731 ), which accepts up to a 1/2" shank. You can then use a #2MT live center, which is exponentially more common now than the 1/2"-20.

I'm looking for a owners manual for a ML618 wood lathe. I'm looking to see if it has more than one Chuck?

Most wood lathes, like most metalworking lathes, have a spindle that is threaded to accept a variety of fairly standard accessories including chucks and faceplates of various sizes and types to accommodate different types of work.
Any lathe that does not accept a variety of such accessories would be a complete waste of time.

Obtaining a manual for much imported machinery is almost impossible to obtain but most imported machines are close copies of industry standard machines and so generic information such as can be obtained from almost any supplier or experienced user is all that is required.

I see no gears in the manual You can move the belt over to get a different speed if that is what you are asking.

Motor stopped while turning. It does have power but will not run.

Motor should have red push botton on back or bottom of motor. This is reset over load breaker . Should be out, just push in until it clicks.

Fox mini lathe not running right

Could you be a bit more specific? This is a very simple machine...it either works or it doesn't. Have you checked the belt? Is it binding, or cross-threaded on the drive spindles?

I have aClarke CWL6 500mm/20inch motorised wood turning lathe.I am trying to find a driving belt for this model. The original belt has disintigrated and I don't know the size I need or where I can purchase...

Belts are measured on their outside (wide) circumference. Place the belt adjustment in the middle of its travel and measure the length around the outsides of the two pulleys with a tape measure. This will give you a good idea of the length, accept a belt a little shorter if need be. You also need the width of the belt, this is the width across the pulley groove. Take a piece of the old belt with you to the belt dealer for him to match the belt cross section. (An automotive belt will probably be the wrong section).

Why can't we get smoke out of the Mastercraft smoker. We have tried it at 120 no smoke, 130 degrees it smoked for a bit. we have opened up the vents half way & changed to smaller chips. Now what (the...

On Master Craft Smokers, you need to put the wood chip in when you first turn it on. The heating element will be on trying to bring up the temperature and will start burning the wood. Also open the vents all the way to get the element to turn on more often. 130degrees is very low for smoking anything. Most meat needs to be 170 on the inside to be considered done. Try cranking the temp at the beginning and turning it down after that. After the first couple hours the meat should be considered smoked, then it just needs to cook.
