Question about Photography

1 Answer

I have a small bottle of water from theJordan River. I need to find someone in the Searcy, AR...Little Rock area who can vacuum seal a pouch or two so I can preserve it.

I plan to put this is some sort of frame with photos, etc., so it absolutely cannot leak.

I had a butcher vacuum pack 5 pairs of mittens to take to the UK. They took up a quarter of the space and sprang back to shape when I let the air in.

Ask your butchery department at the supermarket or a catering butcher in the area. They have vacuum packing machines. However, I would put it in a miniature perfume bottle and put silicone, or acrylic sealant on the threads. Have a frame made that has depth, and mount the bottle and the pictures in a matte frame.

Why cant I find vacuum leak/

Waterboard it!

No, really. Get a spray bottle that can spray out a fine mist, and fill it with water. Start the engine and let it idle. Now wet down all suspected areas-vacuum hoses and fittings, intake manifold gaskets, pcv hose, etc.. Special attention to the intake. Wet it down good around the intake sealing area.
If you have a vacuum leak, the water will get sucked into the intake, and you will hear the engine idle change pitch, it may stumble and the idle will drop.
If no leaks found, maybe was something else. Check fuel pressure for one.

Wont idle

I had an '87 Celica doing the same thing and it was an intake manifold gasket that wasn't sealing-pulling in a lot of air. A lot more than a vacuum hose leak, which would only raise the idle a bit, but not cause the surging you are having and that I had. So check for a large air or vacuum leak. A rip or hole in the large intake boot may also be the source.
To check the manifold gasket, get a spray bottle filled with water and have someone keep the engine running at around 2000 rpm or higher. Soak the area all around the intake manifold gasket, wet it down pretty good. If any leaks are there, the water will get sucked in and cause a noticeable stumble in the engine, may even try to die. Check all hoses for vacuum leaks too, the large hose to the power brake booster.
If it's not a vacuum leak, try unplugging the MAF sensor and see how the engine runs. If it settles down, clean or check the sensor.
