The acer aspire 3680 can't burn dvds at all
Let me guess...you tried to install Roxio or another burner, and then it did not work, so you uninstalled it, but now your dvd drive has disappeared. You have tried to update the drivers, but you get a message showing that you have the latest driver, but alas, no dvd drive.
Use the restore point created just prior to installing the burner software and you will be fine. I have fixed 5 Acer 3680 laptops in the last two weeks with this problem. If you want to use Roxio or another burner software, go to the Acer webpage and link from them. Peace and good luck.

When I insert a blank dvd my notebook won't detect it. But when I insert a cd-rom, or cormercial dvd it does just fine.
I have an Acer 3680, and it's not recognizing any blank dvd i insert. It reads blank cd-roms , and commercial dvds fine. I'm trying to burn some video to a blank dvd and it keeps telling me to insert a blank dvd but ones already in the drive. Can you help me please.
I HAVE AN ACER 3680 BUT IT DOESNT READ NOR DVD NOR CD anything when i clic on my computer the CD/DVD icon doesnt appear. In device settings it says the driver may be possible corrupt when i updated it a message said that it is the lastest version
dont play dvd or cds
i have the same problem but dont have any restauation dates i bought the laptop second hand and the owner had erassed loads of filles !!! any ideas ?
And again same problem. However, I already knew of the rollback fix and since Vista is polite enough to eliminate ALL rollbacks prior to when it installed the SP1 update there is no rollback to GO to. The driver is completely gone as if the update erased it. I contacted Acer but, they have no drivers for this drive.(Figure the odds) I have searched the net for over 2 weeks and no hits other than people with the same problem. Is there a burner software possibly with the drivers in it or is there a phantom place to GET the appropriate drivers for this. I Hate to spend any more on this POS if this is going to be an on-going problem. (Moral.. NEVER buy Acer .. they have no support for their own equipment..)
computer says i need drivers for dvd device
