SOURCE: fan not working

Does it have a compressor and does it run? If so there is probably a relay on that board that is bad or only runs with the compressor.

SOURCE: Electricity works, unit doesn't cool.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

This is a 6 or 8 bottle free-standing wine cooler from what I can tell.

I am not having much luck determining if this is a manual defrost type unit or not. Given the inital sales price now of $79.95 I have to assume it is a manual defrost type.

There are a few things that can cause your problem.

1. PTC relay and KliXon thermal overload assy on the compressor.

2. Run capacitor

3. Temp control

You said the fan does not run so I cab not rule out the temp control.

I can not even find a parts break down of the unit.

With no fan running the very first suspect is the temp control but you can at least listen for a CLICK when you cycle it from off to any other position. If you hear a click I would start looking at compressor start / run parts.

If you have access to your units compressor note the manufacturer, hp if stated (1/8hp etc) and Model number.

Then call or visit your local appliance parts supply store with that information in hand. The will have a PTC relay / KilXon thermal overload AND run capacitor that will fit your unit. I am pretty sure that will get you going again UNLESS you have a broken wire somewhere.

The replacement parts are going to run about 50% of the cost to replace the whole thing.

Thanks for using FixYa!

SOURCE: Both zones of the wine

Hello,

Check the thermostat for temperature setting. Also check the condenser coils and clean them if found clogged with dust. Unplug the wine cooler and wait for a couple of hours before plugging it again. If you can hear it running or whining, perhaps the compressor is being overheated. Test various components such as temperature control knob, evaporator fan, defrost timer, compressor relay, overload protector and the compressor motor.

Take care.

My dual zone wine cooler stopped cooling. Power is good and fan is working.

Fan is wired separately from the cooling unit. you may have a wire corrosion issue. take put the shelves, disassemble the back of the unit from the inside and observe the wiring to see if there are broken or corroded wires/connections. R/R if necessary.

Edgestar wine cooler blowing fuse on the left side circuit board

If you have replaced the circuit boards it's probably associated with a wiring short circuit or compressor failure. Suggest you get a professional technician to further investigate the fault. In the interim check for a short to the frame of the unit, an internal light or for moisture issues or a condensation issue from water.

This cooler's operating range is 40-65 F. If it is still in warranty contact the manufacturer. You could have a faulty thermostat. If so have it replaced.

Edge star not cooling and clicking sound

the clicking sound may be the condenser fan. if the compressor is running, check to see if there is dust or ice blocking the air flow on the condensor or if the fan is moving slow. this will prevent cooling. remove any obstructions and replace the fan if necessary

Edgestar Dual Wine Cooler

Well... it is tough to get wine to spoil.

Keep it out of the sunlight and don't get it really warm
(after all... is just grapes that have already spoiled...
I'm just saying).

I bought the VERY EXPENSIVE Kitchen-Aid
48 bottle... took the 5 years & about another month
for the evaporator FAN to rub a hole in the evaporator aluminum return line (made in USA (opinion: junk)).
KITCHEN-AID never even returned a call or e-mail.

Handling circuit boards: You MUST WEAR anti-static
wrist straps when handling them... ELSE you could be popping those semi-conductors like POPCORN.

The only other REPUTABLE source of information I have ever found on EDGESTAR (very helpful) were the folks at
Compact Appliance.
