On our Xante Ilumina we are having the cyan toner drop out in the middle of the run. Our drums are at 83%, toners are above 10%. If we shut down and let it cool off, it will work again. What is wrong?

SOURCE: toner sensor problems

On the base of machine after removing drums and transport, there are 4 sets of 3 pins that connect to left hand bottom of each drum, these can get toner on them and not make proper contact, each set of 3 pins just pop out with the help of a flat blade, out of base to be cleaned. in yout case just switch the set under the cyan with another lot from different colour.

I am taking it that you are using genuinne non imported oki drum and toner. If this doesnt fix your problem then you must have fauly drum/toner

Hi i have the solucion a error of sensor black oki c3100. For two times i have the problem and a long time study the problem. it´s the solucion. Because i spanish the solution is in spanish languaje.
Desmontar la tapa semitransparente redonda del lateral.
El sensor lleva un iman incorporado que dice a la impresora cuando el toner se a agotado. El polvo de impresion lleva impurezas o las ponen a proposito y hacen que el iman no pueda levantar la leva que hace contanto con el sensor. Con un destornillador limpiar las impurezas que estan pegadas al iman por dentro del toner. Cerrar y listo. YA FUNCIONA JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA.

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

ensure that the one you install is the exact model name and number, if this is correct, try unistallling once again and check one more time,

you might want to get a new cyan toner if this still fails, i dont think there is a prob in your machine, cheers

are you using a dell-branded toner cartridge? if yes, then you should replace the toner cartridge sensor and machine control unit (MCU). if no, you can enable the non-dell toner mode on your printer's operator panel. how? press menu, down until "configure" & press select; down until "maintenance" & press select; down until "non-dell toner" & press select; down until "on" & press select.

Printing just fine in black, all of a sudden I am getting streaks across the top of my paper. Then it will stop. After about a 100 or so it will start again. Does anyone know if you change the mono type to...


Yes in the Iqueue advance printing part click it from color to mona and remove the cyan magenta and yellow drums and that will prevent the black toner for hitting the drums and marking before it gets to the fuser

Please what can I do to work the machine that says fatal error 133;


133 relates to the cyan LED sensor, infact most likey it is the actual Cyan Image drum.
make suer the LED above the Cyan drum is clean, and freely mounted in the spring assembly.
remove and re instal the image drum..
if that does not work, most likely u need a new image drum,Cyan..i bet it is low and due soon for replacement...

Ink is smudged on envelope. How do I stop that from happening?


i bet you're printing in Black,
what happens is when black is selected, the 3 colored drums lift up 2 mm annd only the K drum is engaged, amd there is no static in the transfer belt under the CMY drums.
envelopes have air in them and can bounce along the bely after the black has printed, and seeing the toner is powder and not yet fused on, the toner touches the cyan drum as the envelope hits the fuser entry point as well as dragging on the Left transfer belt Blue lift handle(take out the belt and spring the handle off).
If you open the lid in this print mode, and lift out the cyan drum, turn it over and pull back the cover for the OPC drum, you will see the black toner on the green drum.
FIX 1. In the art work place a tiny dot of yellow. this will run the print mode in color and enagage all the drums. gaurantee your print will be fine, and know one ever sees that yellow dot.Problem is, this then runs down your CMY drums for black only printing.

FIX2.
If you have a later machine, downlaod iQueue from Xante.com (free) fantastic software. and get the machine updated with the latest X1.11 firmware from your dealer.
This allows with iQueue, to set the machine to print Black only, and you run the machine without the CMY drums installed....it works, it's great...

Registration of colors. The magenta and cyan are alittle offset from the black. I can get into registration mode but do not know which keys to hit to adjust.


When you get to registration mode, press enter, then execute will appear, then press enter. Then display will say adjusting. Remember magenta, cyan and yellow register to black. If registration is still bad you need to remove the four drums and transfer belt. To the left you will see a plastic move it to the left and you will see a white plastic with two sensor one at each end. This clear plastic get dirty and then you have bad registration. Clean it with a Q-tip. This two sensors are locate just below the left of the transfer belt, one at each side. This usually get dirty with residue of toner.

suggestions...
first, make sure all your consumables are in good condition, run a configeration page and check the percentages....toners should be 10% or more.
drume should be 50% or more(depends on what weight stock u been running), but run the ID check print, to see drum results.
The transfer belt should be above 20%..
This will ensure your machine can deliver.
next, make sure you have the correct paper weight setting( both in front panel(web browser) and (application drivers) for the stock. If you have setting gtoo high, then over toning will occur.
also, stock must be suitable for laser printing, offset, or cheap paper will drive you nuts....

Toner disappears!


ok, this issue is not toner related actually. the toner bottles you have removed, I am sure still feel the weight of a nearly full one.
The issue, is most likely, the Image Drum, the toner volume, is actually measured by toner flow resistance by a device within the Image Drum, I can explain it in detail, but will take a page..
toner cartridges, only have a chip transmitter in then, that tell the machine a code when it is first installed into the machine, this resets the toner volume processor only, then the yoner flow resistance inside the Image Drum signals the processor as to how the toner is travelling..
Replace the Drum, and then enjoy using all those almost full toners...

I have installed a new yellow cartrige(original) but the printer does not recognise the cartrige and does not want to do anything.(Error message 150). What can I do?


if this is an Ilumina, try lifting out the whole yellow Image Drum. and make sure all the contacts(both ends) are clean from toner dust etc.(on the drum ends as well as the machine contacts) and re insert and re start....could be the trick..
