Where can I get a new motor for my Hunter Designer's Choice Ceiling Fan (model # 99048

Call Hunter at 1-901-745-9222. I think this number is still current, it might not be. Tell them your issue, most likely they will send you an entire new unit (or is your fan the OLD Designer's Choice from the 80's with a rubber flywheel?)

Have a hunter 52" insignia

Diane, usually, that's an indication that one or more of the fan blade irons are loose, where they attach to the fan's motor. Unfortunately, you're going to need a tall ladder and a Phillips Head Screw Driver to reach and tighten the screws. You'll have to check each fan blade iron one at a time, to find the one(s) that are loose.

Good luck. I hope this helps you solve the problem.

It is brand new model type 2A Palatine and on high does not spin as fast as other hunter fans we have in our home

I know this is not a fix but in reading alot of posts on the net, apparently the new model fans have weaker motors in them. I have run into the same problem with a new fan that we bought this week. This one is 62" and it does not cool near as good as the one that we took down, which was a 52". I am researching if we can change out the motor to a faster amp motor. Good Luck.

I bought two Beacon Hill Hunter ceiling fans recently. I bought them because of the promise of "whisper quiet." To my great disappointment the motors are loud. I have one on in another room...

It may not be the motors making the noise, but the blade irons that are attached to the motor are loose and are rubbing the housing.

To confirm this, turn the fans OFF. When the blades stop turning, use a step ladder to reach the fan blades and the blade irons. Using a Phillips head screw driver, attempt to tighten each blade iron screw (2 in each iron), that screws into the fan motor spindle. I suspect, you'll find one or more loose. Especially if, the lock washer wasn't installed on each screw.

Hope this helps you solve the problem. If it doesn't, contact Hunter per the instructions in your Owners Manual. As there is a slim chance that there is a manufacturer's defect involved.

How to assemble the hawaiian breeze oscillating floor fan

I cannot find exact instructions but I did find a general guide to assembly. they are usually very easy to assemble.

A standing fan is a portable fan that has a set of three oscillating blades on a long neck. The neck, also called the pole or the leg, is mounted on the floor. Standing fans have evolved from their origins as noisy accessories that blew away papers in their vicinity to silent fans whose direction can be controlled remotely. When placed at a convenient location, a standing fan can distribute air evenly to the entire room. Its speed can be controlled, and many standing fans can be programmed to stop at a set time.

  1. Installation Requirements
    • The only requirement for installing a standing fan is making sure it is near a power source. The entire unit can be assembled manually with only a screwdriver. A single standing fan, either an oscillating or pedestal fan, is very simple to assemble for basic home use.
    Pole and Base
    • The first step is to lay the parts on a floor. Then assemble the pole on the base of the stand. This is very simple, because the grooves for the screws are already drilled, so the screws just need to be inserted and screwed in. Screwing the pole into the base of the fan is required on some models; on others, the pole and the base are molded together and no screws are needed.
    Motor and Fan Installation
    • One some fans, you have to install the motor and oscillating arm to the pole. This again is done by screwing screws into predrilled holes. Grooves for long screws are at the top end of the pole, where they attach to the motor of the fan. Once the motor is placed on the top of the pole, insert the screws in the predrilled holes and tighten the screws. The next step is to wire the three blades. This is done by taking the wires from the motor and joining them to the sockets in the pole. This finishes the assembly procedure.
To turn the fan on, ensure that the wires fit securely together. A loose connection cannot not only hamper the performance of the fan, it can also lead to problems such as electrical shocks or burning wires.

I hope this helps

good luck

Need a replacement capacitor

Voltage rating doesn't matter. 250v or 330v will work.

If this is really a 2 speed original, with the 2.5Amp motor... it will NOT have a capacitor as the motor is a shaded pole unit. The three speed electrically reversible fans, have a capacitor, which can either be in the switch housing/ oil reservoir, or the top of the motor housing, depending on year of manufacture.

Chemical smell coming from fan?

I have installed hundreds of fans in homes and businesses. The only smell complaint I have encountered was from a fan that came with rubber band like gaskets around the light shades. I guess these were intended to cushion the glass where the mounting screws contacted it. When the lights heated up the glass, a hot rubber smell became very strong. We tried smaller bulbs with no help. The solution was to throw away the rubber bands and attach the glass with the screws directly like all the other brands. Since then, I have always thrown the rubber gaskets away if they come in the kit.
