Unfortunately, without the restore disc, she will not be able to do a system restore. You could mail her the disc overnight or something via USPS or Fed Ex.

I hope this helps :)

Best Regards,

James

How do I set a Compaq Presario SR1403WM back to Factory settings

Step 1:
While many problems with Compaq Presario computers can be solved by less drastic means, there are times when the best course of action is to set the computer back to its original factory default state. Issues with persistent viruses or spyware often require this drastic step, as do problems with a corrupt operating system. Learning how to restore your computer to its original state is an important troubleshooting tool.

Shut down your computer and restart it. Watch for the Compaq logo, then press the "F1" key to enter setup. Press the right arrow within setup to go to the Boot menu. Press the down arrow to access the "Boot Device Priority" option. Change the first boot device to CD-ROM by pressing the down arrow until "CD-ROM" is displayed. Eject the CD tray and place the recovery CD that came with your computer into the tray. If you do not have a recovery CD, you can order one directly from Hewlett Packard. Shut down and restart the computer. The Presario will automatically boot from the CD and begin the recovery process. Select the operating system your computer shipped with. Many Compaq recovery CDs support multiple operating systems, so be sure to choose the operating system your computer shipped with. Insert the operating system CD when prompted. Enter the license key for the operating system when prompted. The license key is typically found on a small tag located on the top or side of the computer.

If your Compaq Presario has major issues, restoring it to factory defaults may be the best course of action.

There are a number of situations when completely restoring a computer to its factory settings is the best solution, including resolving virus infections and corrupt operating system files.

Back up all of your user data to a USB thumb drive, external hard drive or other device.

The restore process will destroy all of your data, so this is vital to do.

Turn on your computer and open your CD or DVD drive.

Place the restore CD that came with your Presario into the drive and restart your PC. If you do not have a restore CD, you can contact Compaq to order one.

Allow the computer to boot up from the restore CD.

You will see a series of messages guiding you through the restoration process, as well as several warnings that all data on the computer will be erased.

Continue the restoration process, and follow the prompts as needed.

You may need to locate the license key for your version of Windows; that key should be located on a label on the top of the computer case.

Hope this helps

I cannot get my internet exploxer to work on my Compaq Presario. It worked before. It stopped after my computer crashed. I cannot get wireless connection or land line

So ur files are still corrupt then. You can place your Windows Cd in and have it restore. However this can cause other issues later. Best thing to do is wipe it out and place the OS on there fresh again. If you do not have a CD borrow a retail version from a friend use your key. You may get a vallidation error stating u need to enter a new key. If so choice the telephone activation method. If still no help then choice operator and tell them ur hard drive crashed they will authenticate your current key.
