No password, no data and no more use to anyone. There are companies who will decrypt it for you but all your data will be lost.

Aegis padlock 3.0 blinking light from password wrong

This is why I never recommend using password protected file systems...if you forget the password you are screwed and almost no one can retrieve the password from you because even it's storage is encrypted. Sadly, I therefore must suggest that you just kiss the data on the drive "good-bye!"

How to set a password?

  • Access the router's default configuration address through your Web browser by entering this address: http://192.168.1.1 (see Resources). Do not enter a user name. Enter "admin" for the password. That process works for all new Linksys routers. If you have changed the user name or password in the past, use the user name and password that you created.

  • 2

When the configuration screen opens, click on the "Wireless" tab and select "Wireless Security" to view the router's current security password. The "Security Mode" field will say "Disabled" if you do not have a password to secure your network.

  • 3

Select the appropriate encryption type from the "Security Mode" drop-down menu. Linksys routers offer WEP and WPA encryption. WPA encryption allows you to use a single password to access the network. WEP encryption creates 10- or 26-character keys that act as your password. Some of your wireless devices may only utilize a certain type of encryption. Determine which protocol is best for your network.

  • 4

Enter a password that will be required to access the network. For WPA encryption, you can write your own password. For WEP encryption, click the "Generate" button to create passwords that can be used to access the network. Write down your passwords and keep them in a secure location.

  • 5

Click "Save Settings" to confirm your changes. Your network will now be secured and will require a password for access.

  • 6

Click the "Administration" tab to create a password to access the router configuration page itself. Be sure to change the password from the default "admin." Reenter the password for confirmation in the next field. Click "Save Settings" to confirm your new password.

I need to change my data encryption from wap or wep128 to just wep. How do I get in to do that.

open up a web browser and enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and when prompted for a user and password enter admin in the password field and leave the usename blank under the wireless tab goto the wireless security tab and there will be sevral options for changing the encryption and passphrase but just to let you know wep is the weakest form of wireless encryption and a hacker can break it in less than a minute

My WD passport is requiring that I select a password and/or certificate to encrypt every file that I put on it. It didn't do this before, I was able to copy and paste docs right into it, but now it's...

It may be something your antivirus is doing to keep from transferring a virus from the Passport to the Computer or vice versa.

Always be certain to run your antivirus on all periferal storage devices.
