Not for hair, no. Try slipping a knife under the hair and cutting it so you can pull it out. Sometimes you might need a pair of pliers to do it.

Eureka maxima vacuum smokes and smells like rubber burning..whats wrong with it..the brush turns but seems like its blowing outwards too

when you get a burning rubber smell, the drive belt is usually slipping on the motor due to friction on the brushes. Remove the belt and free all the tangled hair to allow the brushes to rotate very easily and then put a new belt on.

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

You get to the belt & brush roll area from the top. On the hood of the vacuum, right behind the word Altima, to the right & left sides, you will see a screw. Remove them, lift off plastic hood. Check belt if broken or just stretched too big to catch brush to turn it. Check ends of brushroll for any hair, thread buildup & clean it. See if end caps turn easily. If one or both ends do not turn easily, the brush roll would need to be replaced.

When vacuuming hardwood floor, hair gathers on brush and never sucks into vacuum. I spend most of my time cleaning off brushes. How do I clean hardwood floor with dog hairs.

1. Broom and dust pan, then mop
2. Wet dry vac with wide non-brush attachment
3. Here's a link to a vacuum professing to clean pet hairs well

http://www.evvive.com/shop-by-brand/miele-open-box-canister-vacuums/miele-s516-cat-dog-vacuum_2

4. Try to find a wide attachment for the hose that has no brush, maybe something from a wet dry vac.

5. Take your dog outside and brush every day. It helps, but no matter what you do, you will have pet hair if you have an indoor pet.

6. Go to the source. See if your dog will be vacuumed. Half serious on this one.

Good luck!

This the 2nd roller i put on here and it keeps

Keep the brush free of hair and thread, check your housing for excess wear and only use a genuine belt. As these uprights have gotten cheaper the reliability and durability has gone out the window. If within warranty consult a warranty center.
Sorry to say most bagless uprights are becoming disposable ,not highly serviceable....Retailers make huge money on expensive filters and in 3-5 years the vacs are in the landfill with unused filters still in your closet

My enviro vac is being stubborn

First , spin the brush roll by hand and see if it spins freely. Then remove it.
CLEAN OUT ANY HAIR OR THREAD UNDER THE CAPS Inspect the end caps , if one is melted you will need to replace the cap if available or the entire brush roll assembly.
The "metal piece" is the motor shaft. Clean any burned rubber of with fine wet dry sand paper, then install a fresh belt, using the brush for leverage to stretch the belt into place. Rotate the brush again to be sure it is not binding and that the belt is not pinched anywhere.
Buy 2 belts and keep your spare inside the hood of the vac.

Carpet height selector doesn't work.

You have a bad belt. It may not be broke but it's so loose that it isn't turning the brush roller when a little resistance is applied to it. That belt is cheap and it's routine maintenance to change it about every 6 months. You will notice a big difference when you put a new one on.

Looking for Eureka belt 70646A for a Eureka The Boss upright

I just replaced the belt on my Eureka The Boss Smart Vac (Model 4870D). I purchased a namebrand Eureka R belt from a local vendor. I did my best to follow the instructions printed on the bottom of the machine. I turned on the vacuum cleaner and the belt brush was spinning! I dropped it into vacuuming floor mode and the belt wouldn't spin no matter what level I put it on.

I called the manufacturer (1-800-282-2886) and spoke with a very nice woman on the phone. While I was speaking with her I noticed that a silver screw was lodged within the "brush roll control" yellow selector switch. With some shaking it became dislodged and I was able to put the "brush roll control" into the hard floors setting and turn the "carpet height adjustment" all the way to the right, so that it was facing the word "low." I then followed the instructions for replacing the belt again.. (1) remove base plate (2) remove brush roll (3) place new belt around motor shaft and then around brush roll (4) insert left side of brush roll before right side (5) rotate brush roll to be sure belt is centered (6) replace base plate, making sure to insert under 4 little tabs before securing with screws.

It appears that it is very important that the carpet height and brush control adjustment are set to their highest point possible (hardwood setting) in order to get the brush to roll in a carpet setting.

"R" is the correct belt for the 4870 and should be correct for all other 4800 models.

Thank you for posting your problem to this website. If I hadn't seen that others were having trouble, I would have just given up. I hope this long post helps someone that was in my situation.
