I don't understand your term "damaged strip of harddisk" Please explain what you mean. Sorry to hear of your difficulty. Usually in your kind of situation data can easily be recovered using any data recovery software.But my personal suggestion to you is to first try to run a demo version first and if you see directory list of your lost data then only proceed with the purchase.

Sometimes when OS fail to install then file System of your hard drive can go corrupt which can result to invalid disk error.

Sounds like it's hooped. Only way to recover data is to try to take it to a data recovery lab.... which can be pricey.

Hello, may b your other harddisk mite hav sum errors in it. Hope its detected in windows, bt not accesable.

Try booting with any linux live CD (google "puppy linux", its just 90MB approx) and connect the harddisk. Now access ur harddisk from linux. If u still cant access it, then u should format it.
if it works in linux, then backup all ur improtant data and format it wit NTFS. Ur prob shud b solved!!

firstly you are delete the partion and then formate the harddisk of quick NTFS mathode .
and install the softwere of essy recover and choose the option of raw data recover .

Hey , data recovery is not difficult for normal data loss problem, but if the hard drive is damaged, then the first thing you need to pay attention to is fixing the hard drive.
But you need to notice that after fixing the hard drive, all the files are gone and it seems like it is a new hard drive. At this moment, don't put any new files into the drive 'cause if this happens, you will meet data overwritten situation and if this happens, the chance of data recovery will be reduced.
